iPhone Subscriptions Just Feel Wrong

Apple reportedly is cooking up a subscription plan that has you lease an iPhone like a car. But making hardware another subscription presents a number of uncomfortable “what ifs.”

#iPhone #Subscriptions #Feel #Wrong
As an Apple fan, I’m tired of there greedy practices over the years, raising smartphone costs to over $1000 while removing headphones and not including charging brick that’s necessary to charge the phone for it to work, then charging for services that used to be bundled with new devices an continue raising costs, don’t get me started on the overpriced homepod, if apple lowered there prices an bundled yearly services with hardware the way they used to Apple would make more money an have happy consumers that don’t feel ripped off everytime they buy an Apple product
These companies need to slowdown the production and really add some good features and make some “real smart phones” instead of rushing markets every year.
Given all the subscriptions I already have…..I’m good
Bridget should start thinking to act in some Horror movie, I can’t believe how I felt a bit creepy when I watch this video. Great work though.
I get that. I can see a company that relies a lot on corporate connectivity with people globally getting into the monthly lease program, then the whole company is on the same device at the same level. Then you that that population that MUST have the “latest and greatest” every time something new come out. But I can also understand why people are starting to opt backwards to “dumb phones” — phones that are just that; a phone, perhaps with a rudimentary camera, SMS messaging and no apps or other services.
Personally, I have a 1st Gen Microsoft Surface Duo that has been sublime, and I intend to keep that until Microsoft and Android will no longer support it.
I know a lot of people who just blindly bu the new iphone, so maybe a subscription would help them. Personally, I could never do it — I’m not convinced every new iPhone is better than the last (looking at you, dynamic island), and I also don’t know what my financial situation will be like in 2 years — maybe I’ll need to own my phone for longer and not have a recurring expense. Subscription seems like a bad idea for me.
A lot of people don’t own their iphones. Anyone that uses iPhone upgrade program is pretty similar since you don’t pay on one phone long enough to pay it off in full. This doesn’t even mention all the people that pay for their iPhone monthly from their carrier.
You say “eventually owning the phone” a lot, but if someone is on payment 11 out of 24 do they own it? If owning it means you don’t have to pay anything related to just the phone itself (not service), no. They can’t just give it to a family member (without giving them a bill) and they cannot upgrade without either paying off that phone or paying for two phones.
Because the newest iPhones are becoming so ridiculously expense that you have to rent it, it time to rethink that proposition & look elsewhere for your phone device!
I am glad I stuck with android. I hate everything to do with Apple.
You will own nothing and you will be happy
I hate the idea of people upgrading just because they can. The phones are absolutely fine for many years for an average user (in my opinion).
tron disney world review plz
what if a person defaults on thier payments or lose their job or whatever.… what will happen than?🤔
NOPE
No no no! It’s just going to give Apple more control of your life and keep more people in debt. I think Lisa forgot that a lot of people trade in their phones or give them to family members who need a phone. This is bonkers. Great video 👍
6:41 If Apple wants to reduce the e‑waste of their phones, why not release a new phone every two years? The iPhones are so powerful in processing speed, a two year old iPhone can hold its own weight against new Android phones. I know it’s a pipe dream, but I think this would help Apple being Eco-friendly.
I already do that lol
in spain that has been at some stores for some years. you can finance your iphone with a big payment on the last month. when the last month comes, you decide if you pay and keep the phone, or don’t pay and return the phone. then you decide if you want to do it again for a new model or not
Appreciate you keeping it real
It’s good for circular economy.
I’m torn, right? Part of me gets it: It sucks to not own a thing you’re paying for …but a bigger part of me is like “I don’t KEEP my phone anyway.” I hold on to my phone for 2, maybe 3 years, then trade it in. I typically skip a generation of iPhone (example, I went from the 11 to the 13) so for me, it’s not really losing something, it’s just paying an amount of money to ensure I always have a new device that I don’t plan on “owning” anyway. Maybe I’m the target market for this sorta thing.
What does design language mean?
I agree with Bridget, while Lisa not so much. the E‑waste problem is solely because of the manufacturer making the phones hard and harder to repair or even upgrade.
Tmobile already does this… i pay $35 a month and every year i can switch to the newest model. Love it. It’s like paying a third of the price for the phone and getting a new model every year
No. Just, NO. I hand you money for an item you have for sale. I now own that item (at least in the physical sense). Subscription models suck. For services like streaming services or, cell service or other such services but for a physical item, no.
I rather own my phone I don’t care about renting a phone I feel the same way about cars and big ticket items like that’s just purchase it and be done with it. I mean apple is already one of the most profitable companies with 2 plus trillion dollar value and someone how they can’t produce affordable phones seems kinda odd to me to be honest. To me there’s something very sweet about ownership that’s why I don’t do music subscriptions I just purchase the song I like and I’m done with it
everyone on hard times but they making a killing still
I can see both sides to this program, but something else that needs to be considered is how this will affect the right to repair movement. If Apple owns your device, I doubt they’ll let you or a 3rd party repair it. I can see this being an attractive offer if it’s priced right, and who knows Lisa may be right about it having a positive environmental impact.
I will never use an iphone anyway.
Her expression are over the top.
