LOVE THE STEAM DECK!!! best tech of 2022
The best and the AweÂsome Steam đ Deck đâ¤
I love this system
I finalÂly picked up my Steam Deck this past week and I absoluteÂly love it! I am a long time gamer (earÂly 80s pre-NES) and games on PC for someÂtime durÂing adulthood.I stopped PC gamÂing about 10 years ago and comÂing back to havÂing access to my Steam library, not to menÂtion LinÂux, has rekinÂdled my enthuÂsiÂasm for PC gamÂing. Well done Valve!
I donât have one, but Iâm glad to know that this is improvÂing. RealÂly expect that comÂpeÂtiÂtion will appear and make these improveÂments go faster with more direct comÂpeÂtiÂtion in this niche. Small hardÂware with strong perÂforÂmance, we need more of this!
Only If they make shipÂping availÂable for more counÂtries I could buy one.
I was skepÂtiÂcal after being burned by preÂviÂous Valve hardÂware releasÂes, but this thing has got me back into PC gamÂing. I didnât have time to keep a winÂdows setÂup up to date and comÂpared to winÂdows, tinÂkerÂing with linÂux is actuÂalÂly enjoyÂable. The comÂmuÂniÂty behind the device is also great. Lots of peoÂple sharÂing info and tips. I used to be a linÂux hobÂbyÂist too, and its great seeÂing peoÂple exposed to it and learning.
this will be good for 5 years as long as they keep that price
Iâll tell you this. The steamdeck is amazÂing and to be honÂest it doesnât feel big in my hands. And my hands arenât even that big. The sysÂtem was nevÂer hard to use and there is absoluteÂly very litÂtle tinÂkerÂing necÂesÂsary. And since the screen is only 7in the highÂest resÂoÂluÂtion of game qualÂiÂty doesnât matÂter. It looks pretÂty much simÂiÂlar to a modÂern conÂsole release. I also look at the whole fact that you can switch to deskÂtop mode as a gimÂmick in a sense. Iâve nevÂer once switched to that mode. The feaÂture is there but unnecÂesÂsary if you just want to enjoy a conÂsole through the steam os.
I got myself and my 12 year old daughÂter (at the time) a reserÂvaÂtion. In the last 6 months sheâs made it her own and itâs replaced her OLED switch comÂpleteÂly. She was excitÂed to show me how to change the picÂtures of her games with pluÂgÂins and what not and how she can talk to her friends in game now. To be sucÂcinct, if my 13 year old daughÂter can figÂure it out on her own, so can you đ
For under $350 right now you canât go wrong. Throw in a 1tb SSD and youâre good to go under $400
You are comÂplainÂing about setÂting up Gog or Epic Store on the deck being not that easy AND THEN comÂparÂing it with the Switch for ease of use? Youâd probÂaÂbly comÂpare it rather with âjail breakÂingâ the switch.âŚ
conÂsidÂer buyÂing when next deck comes out.
Steam Deck is the best price to perÂforÂmance ratio in the handÂheld space. I donât care if you show me the AyaÂneo 2 or GPD Win 4. They might be techÂniÂcalÂly slightÂly betÂter but theyâre also 2â3x more expenÂsive. And who knows the levÂel of softÂware and cusÂtomer supÂport youâll get from them? Valve has an estabÂlished ecosystem.
With all that said, I still havenât gotÂten one. I may still wait for a much smallÂer one or if Valve knocks anothÂer $100 off from it. I was playÂing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for hours yesÂterÂday and it got me thinkÂing đ: Maybe the 8th gen is the GOAT for gamÂing? For years, I kept sayÂing DouÂble Dash is the GOAT Mario Kart game. Iâm so wrong. We have it betÂter now.
Not to diss my beloved 6th gen but there were still graphÂiÂcal limÂiÂtaÂtions from pop-in and poor draw disÂtance. I felt PS4 is when graphÂics got perÂfectÂed. WasÂnât realÂly a fan of the 7th gen but the 8th gen polÂished what the 5th through 7th gen tried doing with 3D graphics.
Since I have a modÂded PSP, modÂded PS Vita, Switch Lite, and mulÂtiÂple Android smartÂphones with emuÂlaÂtors on them, I donât feel the need to keep playÂing old games from 20â30+ years ago. If I got a Steam Deck, it would be mostÂly to play games released withÂin the last 8 years.
I want NEW gamÂing expeÂriÂences. Leave the past behind. Not play that favorite PSP game for the 100th time. I know nosÂtalÂgia is a powÂerÂful drug espeÂcialÂly in gamÂing, but we need to try out NEW expeÂriÂences and Steam Deck offers this with the best price point.
I believe the PS Vita is the best PlayStaÂtion ever made. I believe the Switch is the best NinÂtenÂdo prodÂuct ever made. Theyâre conÂsidÂered part of the 8th gen even though their graphÂics are closÂer to 6th to 7th. I would take those two handÂhelds over any home conÂsole Iâve owned startÂing from NES leadÂing up to PS4. I preÂfer them portable. I believe Steam Deck will surÂpass Vita and Switch thanks to its raw power.
Valve made the PS Vita 2 that Sony nevÂer gave us. It made us the Switch 2 at least 2 years before the real Switch 2 comes out. WouldÂnât it be cool if Sega released anothÂer portable for us? Get back in the hardÂware busiÂness. Be even coolÂer if they released a smartÂphone. Same with NinÂtenÂdo. And Sony should release an XpeÂria Play 2.
I say own them all. Get the best of all worlds. NinÂtenÂdo, Sega, and Sony all raised me, so I will always supÂport their prodÂucts even though each of them can piss off their cusÂtomers. But you realÂly canât go wrong ownÂing a modÂded Vita, Switch, Android smartÂphone, and a Steam Deck. You have basiÂcalÂly every genÂerÂaÂtion of gamÂing covÂered includÂing the curÂrent 9th gen that PS5 is livÂing in and you can play all 50 years of gamÂing on-the-go. No need to be tethÂered to a TV set.
I hear Final FanÂtaÂsy VII: Rebirth is a PS5 excluÂsive. A PS4 ownÂer like me wonât get it. But I got a feelÂing it will evenÂtuÂalÂly be released for the Steam library. There ya go. Steam Deck is the platÂform of choice for gamÂing on-the-go for the foreÂseeÂable future. We know NinÂtenÂdo can be stingy with powÂerÂful hardÂware or offerÂing their first-parÂty games at more affordÂable prices.
The Switch was realÂly the first powÂerÂful handÂheld (or hybrid) that NinÂtenÂdo had ever creÂatÂed. I always felt from Game Boy all the way to 3DS, they nevÂer gave us the best hardÂware. The 3DS wasÂnât all that more powÂerÂful than the PSP! The graphÂics are just beauÂtiÂful on the Switch even if its Tegra chip is 8âyears-old. Itâs a portable Wii U and the Wii U was slightÂly more powÂerÂful than the 360 and PS3.
This blows my mind that I can get PS3-levÂel graphÂics on-the-go withÂout overÂheatÂing. For someÂone who grew up on the NES, Genesis/SNES, and PS1 but skipped the 7th gen except for the Wii, it realÂly does amaze me with the tech we have now in our handÂhelds and smartÂphones. I think someÂtimes we take it for grantÂed or are too spoiled by it all.
Thank you, Valve. Thank you, Gabe. You made the greatÂest gamÂing device ever creÂatÂed and at such an affordÂable price. CurÂrentÂly $359.99 as I type this as it has a 10% disÂcount. Own a pretÂty powÂerÂful Android smartÂphone with SnapÂdragÂon 870 or highÂer, a modÂded Vita, a Switch, and Steam Deck. You will have every genÂerÂaÂtion of gamÂing covÂered. HonÂestÂly, you only need the Steam Deck. Android smartÂphones reach Wii emuÂlaÂtion at best.
The 8th genÂerÂaÂtion of gamÂing is the GOAT. Not the 6th or 4th. The graphÂics and the aweÂsome indies are what made the 8th gen the GOAT.
PS4
Switch
3DS
Vita
SorÂry, not an Xbox fan. I see no difÂferÂences from it comÂpared to a PC library. While Steam Deck is the GOAT gamÂing device. BetÂter than any handÂheld or home conÂsole Iâve owned from the past 35 years.
Got my steam deck on ChristÂmas and Iâve been playÂing it every day since
You should play DEMONâS TILT on it!
I only play ParaÂdox games like city skyÂlines, Arthur 2, Eu4, Hoi4, Vic2/3 and games like that. i went from a i7 4790K to a dual Xeon 2699v3 18x18C/92 threads machine to be able to play in 4k (dual 6950XT as graphÂics from tri 980TI)
My steam deck arrived yesÂterÂday and Iâve had a blast tryÂing out varÂiÂous games on it.
Donât lisÂten to this video when it comes to storÂage and getÂting the midÂdle option. Get the 64gb verÂsion and buy a 1TB to swap out the interÂnal one. Itâs simÂple so just look up a YouTube video for it.
I love my steam deck matÂter of fact its the reaÂson I recentÂly bought a gamÂing pc asus tuf intel i7 with RTX 3070 so i can play my steam library games on either one and since my lapÂtop is winÂdow base it means i can purÂchase games that arenât curÂrentÂly deck supÂportÂed and play it on the gamÂing lapÂtop and if down the road it gets deck supÂport then boom Iâm good to go
This guy just wantÂed someÂthing to comÂplain about when it came to the orgonomÂics of the Steam Deck.
The Steam Decks orgonomÂics are done right so that the user doesÂnât get hand cramps while using it.
