Very interesting documentary 👍👍
Iron was first manufactured in Anatolia by the Catal Huyuk (Hyksos) in 1220 BCE … quickly followed by Egypt in that period.
Greek fire has now been rediscovered — and it really is a no-brainer. Shale oil rocks — once superheated create their own thermal rock heat plus burning the oils in the rocks. Such Greek fire launched from small to large metal buckets on trebuchets would sail through the air, lodge into wooden ships plankings, roll across the deck, or burn through sail (or human warriors !). One fired, such objects could not be put out in suffocation or getting rolled into the ocean — and creating superheated air around the object — steam and splitting hydrogen and oxygen and continue burning. A fabulous dicovery.
So you have to get pretty close to set fire to a defensive wall complete with troops, seems like those troops would probably have attempted to stop them, firing arrows from a superior position would have been effective way of achieving that goal. Hurling stones to destroy the weapon would have worked to. Effective weapon but very hard to deploy in a combat theater.
Very cool 😎👍
Remember take with grain of salt, the same company makes ancient aliens🤣
Wow
The Best Battlefield is NO Battlefield.
History channel has lost all credibility
Obviously you never heard of blinders before? A horse will do what you tell it as long as it can’t see.
All hail Caesar!!
They need to bring some of these weapons back.
Really strange !
Who selects the excellent choices of musical accompaniments?
Why get geared up with a suit, mask and goggles to shoot poison at nothing? They could have tested the gun with water.
Enjoyed
Why do they keep referring to the ammo some of these old weapons flung out as “missiles”? That sounds pretty dumb considering the word rock, stone, or projectile would be much more accurate.
I love how he sits there talking and the set is catching fire
the horse spears were for pikemen
I can’t read
So if Hannibal created that path with vinegar and fire shouldn’t it still be there?? Why didn’t we get to see it??
The fact that the horses of today won’t be comfortable with that thing in my opinion is a example of the domestication of animals. And it’s a good thing. We have technology now. We no longer need to torture animals for any reason to benefit us. I know I seem like a tree hugger or whatever, but animals are just like us but they can’t talk.
John didn’t use a pick, he has a sledge hammer
The plant lab technician was gorgeous!
27:00 why wouldn’t you just use water? Is the weight and viscosity really that different?
25:00 “Milkweed is potentially poisonous to humans as well as animals. After grazing on milkweed in a field, sheep can develop difficulty walking, seizures, and death. The sap from the plant can also cause skin and eye irritation”.
“Asclepias is a genus of herbaceous, perennial, flowering plants known as milkweeds, named for their latex, a milky substance containing cardiac glycosides termed cardenolides, exuded where cells are damaged. Most species are toxic to humans and many other species, primarily due to the presence of cardenolides.“
I knew this way back in the 50s and 60s growing up. Told NEVER mess with the plant.
You dont ride the horse with the Spears. its really a one way trip for the horse, and then you line them up side by side. point them in the direction you want to attack… Then light their tails on fire or whatever.
Is there any way to cure the horses eyes and noses of the euphoria latex spray?
