2018 is an Indian Malayalam-language survival thriller film directed by Jude Anthany Joseph, who wrote the screenplay with Akhil P. Dharmajan. It features an ensemble cast that includes Kunchacko Boban, Tovino Thomas, Asif Ali, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Aparna Balamurali, Kalaiyarasan, Narain, Lal, Indrans, Aju Varghese, Tanvi Ram, Sshivada, and Gauthami Nair .The film was based on actual events during the 2018 Kerala floods.
It was initially set to release on 21 April 2023, only to get postponed to 5 May 2023. Upon release, it opened to critical acclaim from both the critics and audience, alike. The performances of the cast, direction, screenplay, music, production design, and CGI/VFX were highly praised.
It grossed 100 crores after 11 days of release and is the highest grossing Malayalam film of the year and third grossing Malayalam film of all-time, till date.
