First you have to understand the difference between ML and AI.…. reason why apple is not calling there new tech AI is because it’s not it’s a ML product
The sciences behind these techs were always there. The only thing that helped was that the processors (SOCs) have become small and powerful enough to be done on a handset. Also with more bandwidth available, the compute can be done on cloud and sent back to the device.
Otherwise we used to do this sort of stuff in Matlab on a pentium 2/3 computer in college/university for fun by using our lecturer’s voice with funny inserts in the lectures.
