i’m just wondering if they could be headstones for graves
I’ve seen several shows that actually examined ALL the stones, or a majority of them. They stated that the stones indicated mechanical chisel marks. I also recall that the daughter of the person who carved them testified to seeing evidence that her father had done exactly that. I’m wondering why Scott Wolter appears to have not examined the other stones with the same magnification techniques he used for the first. It is left to the viewer to infer that he did. This is not science. It seems highly suspicious. Could it be that he would not have a show had he taken this crucial step?
Within the past few yrs., living descendents of some of the Lost Colony family members in the UK’s DNA was compared with living Native Americans in NC, who have the same surnames as the original colonists, & matches were found for 2 males from the Colony. Some of them certainly assimilated into the Native Americans living along the coast of NC.
Seen it…
I live in North Carolina and so far I have never heard of anyone investigate whether there were any bad hurricanes during those 3 years. We have some killer storms on the coast here in August-October and it seems like it would be an obvious reason to relocate inland. Also, later English settlers followed an indian trail called the Occoneechi Trading Path south from Richmond, Virginia, through NC and farther towards South Carolina. Later settlers either extended or followed another existing path down to Atlanta, Georgia. So if someone made it far enough then following that trading path seems to be an obvious choice. And the stones seem to litter that same path but they could have be hoaxed by settlers in the 1700s and still be very old. The fact that none of these “researchers” even mentions that prominant trading path or the issue of hurricanes makes me doubt the depth of their research. My own family came here after arriving in Virginia in the 1600s, so I have researched colonial NC and later settlers mention that there were already white people living in Albermarle peacefully alongside the indians when they moved to Albemarle downriver from Virginia.
Next up on finding Bigfoot 😂
Just ask Biden. I’m sure he will say he was there and saw the whole thing.
Some of these Roanokes could have gone south to the Croats — like the tree cutting note. Otherwise, they could have gone north, with the remnants of the Templar Fleet up to the Canadian Maritimes and northern New England area, and the prior Norse Empire colony of Vinlandia (900‑1100), Templar empire (1100–1500s) with Welsh and Scottish expeditions to the Nova Scotia peninsula … especially the ancient industrialized and military defense complex of Oak Island.
Great episode until you realize the host is a total fraud and has no professional training in aging rocks.
Have a question: could a huge storm wipe out the colony? Maybe i am tire, or i am just not seeing it. in general it is an island.
That Hatteras guy was a lil sassy, huh?
DNA could solve the Problem.
Check for English DNA in any local tribes! Especially the elders or skeletal remains
Do another episode. I rewatch over & over again. The same location sites people . Some new .
His wife calls him at the airport, while he is filming himself? Bahahahahahaha.
i GUESS IM GOING TO England, instead of coming home. ALL BS.
This guy is so stupid but I do like watching the show because he’s amusing with how dumb he is.
A rock having weathering on it doesn’t mean it’s an authentic clue.
This guy hasnt solved one mystery. Ever. Yet he has his own mystery show where he says hes going to figure it out. Every episode lmao 😂😂😂
Crazy Guy goes Pawn Star on a bunch of rocks. Film at 11.
I believe they faced a lot of hardships some probably died from illness , and some killed by native peoples..I do think some may have survived and moved on though. The women were probably assimilated into the native culture thus explaining the blue eyed natives that were found..
The Lost Colony was not in Roanoke!! Roanoke is all the way across Va in the western side. The lost Colony was the east coast!
I wonder if they ever searched around the area of Chocowinity or Washington NC
They are so blessed to have you!! ❤
I don’t believe a GD thing on History Channel about History.
The colony didn’t “disappear”. John White was gone for THREE YEARS!! They abandoned the colony or were forcibly removed by natives. No mystery there.
I once saw at a spider on the wall. Came back 30 minutes later and it disappeared!
So if I came back in three years, would I say the same thing?
Sassafras is a tea, it thins blood and a high antioxidant! You use the root of the tree!
Both theories are correct. Half went to the beach, the other half went inland.
If there were over 100 people, it’s reasonable to expect that some died, and the remainder split up. There’s no reason to believe the survivors, leaderless, would stick together. Basic group dynamics shows that once a cohesive leader leaves, and especially if a less persuasive or effective person takes the role, “factions” can form. This is especially true when there is a catastrophe (weather, illness, attacks, etc.).
Something as simple as loving the forest/disliking seafood is enough for the survivors to split into two different groups, especially if the appointed governor was in absentia, and quite possibly overdue for his expected return. A strong-willed naysayer of the governors return probably led a portion of the colony inland, while the rest went to Hatteras. Those that believed he would return wrote the name of their new location on the palisade column, hoping he would join them, and the rest, who didn’t think he would return, had no reason to post where they were headed.
If Ananias Dare was the naysayer who believed his father-in-law would not return, Elenora (his wife) would travel with him. It makes perfect sense that the governor’s daughter would take it upon herself to document what happened to the group who went inland. Perhaps she secretly hoped her father would find her breadcrumbs (there could be more stones yet to find).
People use white-out when they make a mistake or change their minds. Back then, the only thing to do is patch over mistakes or changes. Someone didn’t want to take the time or spend the money to make a new map.
Someone proposed a fort, and somebody else said nope!
