The Polaroid I‑2 is a $600 instant film camera that allows users to manually dial in settings. It took five years to develop and has an all new f/8 to f/64 lens plus a new integrated display in the viewfinder and a small screen on the back of the camera. But for as much innovation is present in the I‑2 it still struggles to consistently produce great images. #photography #film #technology

#camera #bring #Polaroid
You are being sent to a remote island, alone for 20 days… Instax or Polaroid?
Even though it has its flaws, I really love this camera! It really takes me back! I want to test it alongside the original Polaroid!
I’ve just gotten into analog Film with a used X700 Minolta. And apart from misjudging how stable I can hold the camera for longer exposures nearly all my pictures got correct exposure. The camera is from the 80s and their light meter works properly. I don’t think it is too much to ask from a camera in 2023 to do the same.
(I don’t know if instant film is a lot harder to expose correctly. If so the comparison might be flawed)
Like any new gadget that comes out at the moment, I think it’s going to need the second iteration to be produced before it’s worth buying. With it being a bit hit and miss with the shots, I think it’s a money pit, at the moment.
600 dollars to get overexposed images… 😅
Overpriced 😢
I love Becca ( not in a romantic way ) it’s just like all her videos never miss and actually conveys something about whatever camera she is trying out.
Becca is great she should get more content out maybe invite her to do a mid week series on the vergecast?
Big big love for the work she does.
Polaroid will only be back when the film gets cheaper. An entire new wave of people will jump in!
Not gonna lie but im really happy with my fujifilm instax mini evo (brown usb‑c version)
I’d rather get a 60$ Polaroid from the 80s which actually counts the amount of photos correctly and doesn’t waste my money.
Great review thanks, I shoot trains, but sometimes I wanted to capture rare locomotives for something unique, so I shoot on POLAROID!
A touchscreen takes it out of analogue photography — which is what the design is centered on…analogue.
8 shots in a pack — that’s exactly like making your favourite chocolate bar thinner, whilst keeping the packaging the same.
Pro photographer’s take: Buy Instax forget Polaroid.
Also that opening a pack of polaroids side ways??? Good god
This company lost its mind a long time ago thinking their paper should be that expensive. I have not used my 2 Polaroids in years because of it.
YES
It will have GEN2.
Be patient.
Polaroid always was exorbitantly over-priced, and you need to buy film by post, as no shops stock it, which adds 8 UK pounds to the price. Cheaper iType camera models have the same control of shutter and aperture, only via an Android or iPhone app. Which is a cheaper choice. I found an original SX-70, which takes Polaroid 600 film by cutting a lug off the film pack and shooting with a neutral density filter. Tip: avoid any subject contrast. This film has small dynamic range. Take the picture on your mobile phone first, and learn how this relates to Polaroid film.
“Can a $600 camera ‘bring Polaroid back’?” No.
The answer is hell no.
A rich man‘s toy
Why would I spend $600+ on a camera that uses “film”? The film packs cost about $25-$26 … Pro’s might find a use for the new Polaroid but why spend that kind of money on a big clunky analog toy? You people ever heard of the new invention called a “smartphone”? Just saying … 😘😎
