How can you make a documentary about China’s great ships and not mention that the government ordered all ships to be burned in the late 15th century??
The Ming dynasty started off very strong, but they drastically slowed or even halted their own progress in exploration, trade, foreign relations, warfare, and many technical advances when they destroyed their fleet and records. They basically became grumpy old hermits who mostly kept to themselves. The reason for these actions have been debated.
I am terrible with Chinese names, so I can’t remember the specific emperors’ names, but one was responsible for greatly advancing ship building and use. However, after he died, the next emperor and the elite ordered everything to be destroyed, including the previous emperor’s records.
Again, the true reason remains unknown, but it has been suggested that the emperor was afraid of foreign trade or peoples, or was jealous of the previous emperor’s accomplishments.
They supposedly had the largest navy and collection of ships (including the largest wooden ship ever built) in the world. They were a leading civilization before the fleet was destroyed. We can only imagine what they could have gained had they not destroyed their seafaring ships and isolated themselves for centuries.
PICE OF JUNK HAHA
Being given the opportunity to understand the development of Chinese ship building and their armored capabilities brings thousands of questions. We know that there has been stone anchors discovered on the west coast that have been identified as Chinese or commonly used by the Chinese makes us wonder where they in North America before Europeans. The thirst for expansions is not left to only one group so speculation remains open for all interpretations’
As soon as they were using divining rods to find the ship i was done. How stupid.
I just don’t believe that giant ships went discovering. If they made giant ships then they would use them to attack or control someone or some area of the world on that side of the world. I do believe that their smaller Junk ships could have been blown off course and found the west coast of the American continent.
Did they try ground radar in Oregon, or are they going by imagination?
Bs
Its been well established. The Vikings were the first to discover North America
The Scandinavian Vikings was the first one who traveled to the Americas and other part of the world
The Chinese have had to have women on board or how did the North American population grow ? Something is missing.
I wonder how much the CCCP pays for proganda videos like this these days
I have seen a Chinese map that had the east coast drawn accurately, from the early 15th century. EAST coast.
Even there’s no record showing China visited the North American continent, it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen because during the Ming dynasty, they burned all the maritime records. They also had no record of showing them visiting the South East Asia, but today, places in Indonesia where Zheng He (the Chinese official) visited, they had shrines worshipping Zheng He and his stories in Indonesia.
I’m not sure if the Chinese ships went westward to the American Pacific Coast. I know there’s evidence that the Chinese ships went to Africa several times. I assume if they discover America, they should discover the East Coast of America instead of the West Coast.
I was in until they pulled out the rods.
Ok, this is everything that’s wrong with the History channel. Clickbait
Lol, did China sponsor this video? 🤔🤔🤔
At what point do we just admit America was just a stopping point forever and always hhhmmmm
Which is amazing because China can’t build anything of quality today!
They should keep this really really quiet. The Chinese government already thinks it owns the whole of the South China Sea based on land they controlled hundreds or thousands of years ago. Let this get out and they will think the own ALL the oceans, and ALL the land.
