The only way we may be able to hold Google responsible should it ever renege is a large class-action lawsuit where the company is liable for compensating all of the affected consumers. But don’t be surprised if somewhere in all of the tiny-print legalese there is a clause that lets Google off the hook even if the company promises something like 7‑years of tech support…
Awesome video.. now do Apple! What are their broken promises?
I don’t think it’s ambitious at all. They have the market research to show that nobody hold on to a phone that long and they never will. 7 years is absurd. You’d be hard pressed to find people willing to buy a 5‑year-old phone. But the original owner they’ve definitely moved on.
😂
This emoji is for Google customers who actually thinks that they will give 7 years of OS update
I’m glad you mentioned that companies are adopting the release early and patch later mentality, I just wish you had included Tesla in your list. Promising FSD for almost a decade at this point and it’s still not there, releasing buggy firmware for their vehicles and just patching it later to fix it. And that company plays with peoples’ lives. Every sector is getting in on it and it’s a scary future we are heading towards.
There is absolutely no way Google will stick to this promise without some massive caveats. I switched to iPhone after losing all trust in their products and I’ve never once regretted it.
I have had Google Fi for years now and both my husband and I love it. It’s excellent for service domestically and internationally. We predominantly use data and not calling as much, but I love that the international service is included in my Unlimited Plus plan. It’s super affordable to me for less than $120 for two lines (cheaper per line with additional users too). Definitely something to explore for those interested.
Answer is no. Thanks

To look on the bright side, at least google has been trying new things non stop. I don’t want a big tech company to be overly careful with their rollout of new tech. Ironically, I prefer Google keep throwing things at the wall and see what sticks.
Pixel 6a is trash
more than anything else , I want battery health lasts 7 years. Phones tend to get slow down just after a year.
I can trust Google.

I think they will be able to support for 7 years. Even if the new Android is too complex in 2029, Google may release a special exclusive lightweight system for some of its smartphones. This will also be considered a system update, albeit a small one
Phone manufacturers don’t want people to keep the same phone for 5 years plus.
Buy a new one every year.
