Pixel 8 vs. Pixel 8 Pro: Which should YOU buy?

Pix­el just needs to go back to Snap­drag­on. The ten­sor G3 is equal to the 888 they got you pay­ing $1000 fot a 3 year old proces­sor. Google could just make an sep­a­rate AI chip and throw it in there. If AI is what the G3 is all about. I have the pix­el 7 bat­tery is okay, it lags, and gets hot some­times for no rea­son and that’s all because of that Sam­sung made proces­sor. How does the S23 and Asus zen­phone 10 get way bet­ter bat­tery life with small­er bat­ter­ies in them? Thats because Snap­drag­on is a way bet­ter proces­sor. Google should be ashamed of them­selves. The com­pa­ny that made Android. A soft­ware com­pa­ny and they cant fig­ure out how to get the bat­tery right 🤦

wait, the base Pix­el 8 has a curved screen? like the s9?

Ulti­mate­ly I chose the Pix­el 8 in Hazel because of the size. I have carpal tun­nel and the larg­er phones are hard­er to hold. As much as i want­ed the pro for the cam­era prop­er­ties, i could­n’t jus­ti­fy it.

Im upgrad­ing from the 3a to the 8! Just not sure whether I should pick the cur­rent google deal of $699+ free buds pro (I real­ly want the buds) or wait for Black Fri­day deals next month for both😲🤔

Going to go with the 8… pret­ty good deal for Google Fi users to upgrade.

I’ve had my Pix­el 8 Pro for one week and, as I was afraid of, glitch­es and issues are already pop­ping up. It’s real­ly annoy­ing. It seems that Google just isn’t capa­ble of releas­ing a great phone.

Among the issues are 1) The touch screen response just dis­ap­pears com­plete­ly every once in a while. I must restart my phone to get it back.

2) This may be an Android 14 issue, but every once in a while the lock screen cus­tomized font will revert to the stan­dard issue font. This seems to hap­pen every four or five days. I have to go into the set­tings and reestab­lish a cus­tomized font.

3) Increas­ing­ly, my phone will go into mute mode dur­ing phone calls when I’m either using my phone’s speak­er or my Pix­el Buds Pro. I will hear the caller, but the caller won’t hear me. I either have to dis­con­nect the ear buds or turn off the speak­er in order to resume the call. I missed a very impor­tant sched­uled call-back because of this.

And don’t get me start­ed on the sup­posed supe­ri­or cam­era. Many glitch­es in there. Thank­ful­ly, I’m not real­ly into tak­ing pho­tographs or mak­ing videos with my phone, but I can imag­ine some­one who is must be tremen­dous­ly frustrated.

Hope­ful­ly, these issues will be cor­rect­ed soon with soft­ware updates. Google just can’t seem to get it together.

If video night mode came to stan­dard pix­el 8, I would have bought it already. But I have to con­tem­plate upgrad­ing my 7 pro to 8 pro..

I remem­ber when tech review­ers were singing prais­es for curve edged screens.

I am sooo so hap­py the era of curved edges and “infin­i­ty screens” are seem­ing­ly com­ing to an end. It was a hor­ri­ble idea that added absolute­ly zero func­tion, it just looked cool in the pro­mo­tion­al materials.

The curved shape also forces you to buy a case unless you want to con­stant­ly acci­den­tal­ly acti­vate the touch­screen with your thumb and palm, mak­ing web brows­ing actu­al­ly the most annoy­ing thing ever.

I only real­ized I hate curved edges after hav­ing my note10+ for 2 years because I decid­ed to use it with­out a case for the last cou­ple weeks before my new phone arrived. I just always assumed you buy a case when you buy a phone but it’s actu­al­ly so unnec­es­sary, espe­cial­ly if the phone has good enough nat­ur­al grip.
