The pre­dic­tions are this movie will tank. Mar­vel has­n’t made a good, or pop­u­lar movie since Endgame. Why? It’s because they don’t respect their audi­ence. They push poit­i­cal wok­e­ness on an audi­ence that does­n’t want that. Bar­bie was both pop­u­lar, and degrad­ing to men (Ken). Why was it pop­u­lar? Because they gave their audi­ence (girls who had been raised by woke par­ents) what they want­ed. I’m O.K. with that. Mar­vel’s audi­ence are young men who love strong women, but not humil­i­a­tion or elim­i­na­tion of male char­ac­ters (Loki, She-Hulk, Wakan­da For­ev­er, The Wasp and ant man).
Let me give you an exam­ple of the right way. Black Wid­ow, Cap­tain Amer­i­ca. Both were treat­ed with respect. Both had their day in the sun. And both accu­rate­ly fol­lowed the genius of the com­ic book writ­ing. Cap was, and is, the leader of the Avengers. You can’t twist away. He was lit­er­al­ly wri­iten to be the leader of the Avengers. Just trans­late the com­ic sto­ries. It’s bet­ter writ­ing than any screen­writer could do. Don’t try to make it “mod­ern,” or “cor­rect.” The comics pri­or to 2000 have genius writing.
