8:53 must be because after most of them were converted from their original religion to Christianity and those who were still devoted to their ancestral religion were being persecuted, they had to secretly pray to their Gods going underground. Poor people. Now all the ancestral worships are lost. None can remember their ancestors way of worshiping the pagan gods. Must have been a unique culture, people and tradition destroyed by conversion.
I always love to watch the ancient history of Roman it is fascinating to lead how the ancient history of Roman builder it own city and on top of each level.
This an interesting history story.
