Generative artificial intelligence is all over the online shopping space — but has that actually made the experience better? The Verge reporter Mia Sato did a try-on and review of clothes by the AI fashion brand Finesse. And afterwards, she tested AI-powered e‑commerce tools that generate images and product descriptions.

Be honest, do you even care if clothes are designed by AI? 👀 (no wrong answers)
Companies need to use buzz words like AI to please investors, even if they don’t even know what to use it for yet
Why is the sponsor segment so LOUD?!
I can see A LOT of class action lawsuits coming out of this.
If this is the future, it’s going to be very depressing…
Intel sponsoring a video about janky AI seems very on brand
While I appreciate some of the technological advancements, innovations and benefits that AI provides, I sometimes feel the tech industry’s push for civilisation to quickly adopt these new technologies might backfire and have some serious consequences on the human race. Some of these AI tools really do make a mockery of what it means to be human!
the only AI i want is better edge, object detection and object removal in lightroom. i just want tools that can assist not so much outright create.
To be fair, this is the worst this stuff will ever be.
You cannot blame this on AI. This is all on the store.
AI only creates the mockup. It does not make it.
Off/Script is much better. They produce high-quality fashion products for creators, powered by AI.
How fitting is the name though. Finessing you out of your money. “Finesse”. Wow.
Stealing from independent designers to sell poor quality items… AI-powered or not, let’s not support this company.
If you want an alternative, Off/Script is much better.
I feel like this Finesse company is a lawsuit just waiting to happen
I got pants from Finesse for the Eras tour and was very pleased!
I love content like this!
What in the world is this
Skipping one of the most crucial steps in preproduction seems like a bad idea.
I am CRYING at the three arms and background drops for the dress at the end 😅😅😅
Does it matter that these companies don’t fit their prototype clothes on “real” people? That blue dress might actually fit somebody, just not Mia.
A fashion haul on the Verge wasn’t on my bingo card
Intel, such poor advertising. This video is a critique of Ai and Intel went ahead and decided, “hmm yes, let’s advertise the fact that we’re pushing Ai hard for everything”
How many more thumbnails can this video get??
Initially appalled by the garments that got shipped. You would definitely not wear them out as is BUT! I thought, they could serve as a prototype or mockup base that can be modified and tweaked to you size or design. If you were taught how to sew in school or would like to learn more, the process of “correcting” these can serve as a practice of sorts. Much like modifying take out food to suit your taste, or editing text produced by AI to suit your exposition style.
We are living in the age of real-time fashion where the clothing industry will continue to get worse for everyone involved.
Why do you change the thumbnail so often? Is this like a YouTube thing where it switches between multiple ones automatically? Or do you guys change it manually if you see there’s a better shot you can use or if the video doesn’t get enough clicks with the initial thumbnail?
Apotheosis is the only market avatar made for apparel as they are designed for reality. All other avatars are made for gaming. The avatars cause fail rates that will end in landfills

The irony of this video is that while the clothing manufacturer screwed up the clothing, The Verge screwed up the audio in this video.
Right click on this video and select “Stats for Nerds”. From there you will see that YouTube measures the audio in this video as 9.8 dB too quiet. If you’re not familiar with this number, 5 dB too quiet is noticeable and 10 dB too quiet is unacceptable. That number is supposed to be at or very near 0.0 dB.
Hey The Verge, whoever is in charge of exporting your videos for YouTube needs to Google “how to make sure audio is loud enough for youtube” because they clearly don’t understand what they’re doing. This video is way to quiet. This might be an acceptable mistake for a channel with 3.4k subscribers, but it’s wholly unacceptable for a channel with 3.4M subscribers. Y’all really need to fix this problem.
Oh I get it, this makes it even easier way to further flood the market with cheap low quality clothing and products. What a time to be alive.
This was good. I mean the content. Not the terribly made clothing
who else thinks that most of it is just a tacky version of famous designs, worse than SheIn, temu.
The fact that it’s called finesse is all you need to know 💀
That my friend of sister and also knows as my friend 😅😅😮😮 I love you Mia Rose roses
So sad that yellow skirt is so pretty.
