The $1,599.00 Fujifilm X100VI and the $1,046.95 Ricoh GR IIIx are two of the most popular digital point-and-shoot cameras for folks who aren’t looking to break the bank. They both come in a small package and have an APS‑C sensor and a fixed focal length lens that can produce crisp images. In fact, these systems are so similar that, as a viewer, it can be hard to tell images from them apart (check out 1:29 in the video). But as a photographer, the experience they provide could not be more different.

Sepia. Let’s talk about it, why does it still exist?
I am a Fuji fan and I would love to have either of these cameras. At least I could actually buy a GR IIIx!
The last line x100 😂
This video is absolutely outstanding
Becca, please make your own channel if you don’t have one already! Love your enthusiasm
I shoot Fuji but not the 100 series but whenever I get asked if the “X100V/VI hype is real and are they really worth it” I answer just get an X100T instead. All the first 3 X100s (the X100, X100S, X100T) had the goldielocks X‑Trans II sensor that produced some of the best digital black&white you’ll ever see (and almost no chromatic noise in colour) but the X100T was the first X100 with what I consider a modern and user friendly experience. The X100F had the regressive X‑Trans III sensor which is somehow noisier with actual chromatic noise, not just luminance noise, without giving you more detail with those 8 extra megapixels. And, of course, the V and VI are unobtanium and I still don’t like them as much as the T.
Yoooo this is awesome coming across one of your videos!!
Do you have links to the GRIIIx filters referenced?
Ricohs AF is sooo slow 🥱
Ricoh looks amazing
Great review! Glad I found you. I look forward to more videos from you!
You’re the best
Lovely comparison video!
awesome comparison. Thank you!
great video beca
This was without a doubt the best comparison video I’ve seen between these two incredible cameras. Fantastic video.
What if Nikon releases a point-and-shoot?
I have had 2 fuji cameras and I figured that I love more GR image rendering
Showing the pictures side by side while I’m looking on my phone walking the dog it really only took me a couple shots to realize which was which. If you seriously work in the industry with color and you’re looking at that picture of the paint swatches or the scooter on your calibrated, including brightness, 10 bit monitor you’d be crazy to think that the left was as well composed color wise as the right. Assuming they weren’t jpegs or somehow reprocessed
There’s also an example on the right side column with that shot with the two green doors towards the top between those three dots even through the YouTube compression, where you can see that on the left there is just a complete lack of detail where is on the right the texture and nature of the column still comes through. These things matter. But it is important to note that if you’re worrying about the top 5% differences camera to camera well then you should have enough experience and a finely tuned eye to care about it. Otherwise you’re wasting your time
Go in a dim Pizzeria or something like that and go to the back of it and shoot out to the window a wide shot that captures the chairs and the restaurant and what’s in the parking lot. Don’t focus on anything particular don’t adjust exposure don’t you spot exposure, just let the camera decide and typically you will see the differences in how the Fuji handles these extreme light differences when you are inside the dark area .
Edit: sepia was all over MySpace around the time the first x100 came out
Why compare 2 both are diff fujifilm have 40mp, this just like ad
Emm, you STILL have not picked a WINNER… There are NO two winners…
I sold my fujifilm x100vi and now I’m going further with my “old” Fuji x100v and Leica Q. I tested the Rico GRIIIX and it is superb for the size.
I’m happy with both old cameras.
”For folks who dont wanna break the bank” 0:09 BROTHER WHAT? 😂😂😂 My Z50 + sigma 14–24mm lens is cheaper than any of these cameras without attachments!!
I will never understand the obsession with film simulations. Why not just buy a film camer? £1600.00 for a Fujifilm X100v1 is a rip off. The company is taking the piss. If you can barely tell the differece from the photos as to which camera took what then buy the cheapest one.…thats logical. However, it is not just about the results, ie the photos. Its about camera snobbery among photographers, ill-perceived minor over-hyped improvements, sharpness of image etc. and great marketing which so many so called experts fall for. Cynical, yes! My old PEN‑f works well for me but the photo are no better quality than those taken on my older Oly Epl 5.….at least I can’t see a difference and thats all that matters to me. If there is a lack of skill, its down to me. I would say that the vast majority of folk would not be able to tell a good photo from a bad one. I think we should all STOP watching those influencers/ambassadors/persuaders who are paid to review products and give favourable reports which, of course, are taken seriously.
Anyone that can recommend budget alternatives? I love using my full frame canon, but don’t want to carry my big camera + lens everywhere. Would love a smallish camera with a fixed lens from 24 to 35mm equivalent lens. $500 or less. Easy quick to use, doesn’t need to be incredible, just run and gun daily life.
If you have a iphone 15/16 pro you already have a better camera than the Ricoh. Only camera that makes sense is the fuji.
This is such a great video, I appreciate the comparisons between the two, but I’m so impressed with Becca’s ability to tell a story through this review/comparison. I’ve never heard someone suggest looking at a fan base to decide on a camera but it makes so much sense for me as well. Great video

Just found your channel because I’m trying to decide on these two cameras. Great comparison. I really enjoy your channel!
This is maybe the most enjoyable and well done camera review video ever. The Verge just got a subscriber because of this gal. She’s awesome.
