Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro+ vs. Note 13 Pro: Which one to get?

There is no com­pe­ti­tion. The pro+ does­n’t have a head­phone jack, so it fails as a phone. It could lit­er­al­ly car­ry the hard­ware to cure can­cer and it still would­n’t make the phone any more usable to me. Hell, the pro could lit­er­al­ly have a design flaw where it stabs into my ears when­ev­er I’m on call and it would still be more use­ful to me than a slab of alu­mini­um with no way to con­nect my headphones. 

Phones are dumb, cap­i­tal­ism is dumb, I wish I nev­er need­ed them for day to day life this is so frus­trat­ing. Every sin­gle time I need to shop for a new phone I always end up feel­ing so help­less and out of touch with the world. At this point, what’s the point in even try­ing? I wish I could just give up on it all, throw all my devices away and dis­ap­pear into the void where my despair makes its home. 

Do we have any con­trol over our lives? Are we just doomed to slow­ly con­verge on a sin­gle design for every­thing we use? When did such a small thing like a phone turn into an expect­ed, nev­er-end­ing life event? Why am I forced to pay for things I don’t want, and increas­ing­ly want less as their designs are made with the indi­vid­ual con­sumer less and less in mind? How much of my life is left for me when you take away all the use­less monot­o­ny I have to just put up with for the sake of being a prof­itable citizen? 

Every sin­gle time I need to buy a new phone I am remind­ed that none of this is worth it. and every time it feels a lit­tle worse. im hon­est­ly not sure i can sur­vive the next time my phone breaks, though of course they are all designed to even­tu­al­ly. im just not strong enough any­more. i dont see what life has to offer me, all it does is bloat my time with noth­ing i enjoy.

I have my Red­mi note 13 pro for 4months now and here is my screen­time in a week. ( Most of the time I use it watch­ing youtube, dig­i­tal draw­ing, and read­ing man­hwa. )

Poco X6 pro VS
Red­mi Note 13 pro PLUS VS
Motoro­la 50 Fusion VS
Sam­sung A55. VS
I am also opened to Poco F6 as a vari­ant if it would be real­ly worth it in my case.
Use case: phone will be used for pho­tos and media con­sump­tion (brows­ing, Youtube etc); bat­tery and sys­tem sta­bil­i­ty are impor­tant. Almost NO gam­ing on the phone and the num­ber of years of future updates are not important.

🤐You said they both run on Android 14 to top of Hyper OS. I have a new Red­mi Note 13 Pro Plus 5G which has Android 13 WITHOUT any Hyper OS. Are you in Europe or the USA because I’m in Asia?

Thanks for your com­par­i­son. I’m already dis­ap­point­ed with the flag­ship mar­ket. There aren’t real­ly any inno­va­tions and the prices are way too high. My Z Fold 3 is slow­ly break­ing, now I want to try a mid-range device next. It will prob­a­bly be the Red­mi Note 13 Pro+. Let’s see how much I will real­ly miss and whether it isn’t the smarter choice to buy a cheap­er model.

Do both ver­sions have E‑Sim?

The main dif­fer­ence which I con­sid­er is the chip. There are a lot of cus­tom ROMs for Qual­comm chip and there is lit­er­aly no cus­tom ROMs for Medi­atek chip and it seems that there will be no ROMs for it in the future.

So, if you are con­sid­er­ing a smart­phone which you are able to root/reflash, don’t buy that one on Mediatek
