ASTRO BOT! I just wish it had couch co-op.
I love the action button. I set it up based on the phone orientation. Portrait> Camera. Landscape > Video Camera. Face down> Low Power Mode. Face up > Google Maps. Landscape upside down> Shortcut Folder (all shortcuts based on going for a walk: Play recent podcast. Connect Headphones. City Mapper etc) Reverse Landscape > Pocketcasts.
Works great. Downloaded the original shortcut to run it all and it was easy to set up. Oh, and with both the camera actions the action button is right beside the volume button to take a picture or start recording a video. I use the button now without even thinking about it.
You guys say some of the weirdest stuff. Who cares what the adoption rate of the action button is. It literally replaces a button that did one thing. That’s it. And most people never used the mute switch or would call in wondering why the phone won’t ring when they accidentally silence their phone when they take the case on and off. smh. The adoption rate of a plain mute switch is exactly the same as the action button that is default to the same exact function. At least now you can choose to do what you want with it.
it’s so funny how everyone forgot about the apple vision
From Russia with Love.
Does anyone know if The Verge has made any comments regarding Becca’s departure and video talking about her time at The Verge?
Nilay, the moon actually wobbles a little.
Hear me out: Apple calls the photos under the new processing pipeline iPhoto
David was on the Waveform podcast. Can we get the Waveform team on the verge cast? 👀
I love Alex I want a podcast with 3 Alexes
I don’t get it, I used shortcuts all the time!! If anything they should give more options!
Using the action button to turn on and off the flashlight is unequivocally the best feature on my iPhone 15 Pro and something I can’t live without
I love this podcast.
Also for the love of all tech, can someone in editing please make it standard policy to bleep out when anyone say “Siri”.
She repeatedly thinks you are talking to her
Same for Alexa and Google.
Thanks.
One and a half hour to talk about something not announced yet…..?
I’ve only been watching/listening to The Vergecast for about 8 months, but this was probably the funniest episode I’ve ever seen/heard.
Tech reviewers obsess over the fact that few apps max out an A series chip. The real benefit is that it keeps your phone running smoothly many years after you bought it.
Love y’all, but the studio feed is very choppy.. sup?
We need a 30” iMac, not 27!
I’m hoping apple announces a replacement material case for fine woven that actually looks good and is durable. lol even tho I typically use their silicone cases.
We like it longer…and wider.
You can already make raw photos…
Astonishingly bad AirPods and watch takes…
Please, a 24h Vergecast 😂
In iOS 18, apple says “You can even use the Action button on iPhone 15 Pro to access these new controls.” This means all the control center controls.
I have been really enjoying the summarize features in iOS, especially notifications and email. When my coworker emails me paragraph requesting something silly and I get 8 word summary. I think that is incredible useful.
What I don’t understand about motion smoothening, is who is asking for that. Like I genuinely have never met someone that wants that on. I always turn it off on peoples tvs and they don’t even notice.
I think characterizing the Kids with Watches So Their Parents Can Track Them cohort as a small group is a real miss. AirTags are good for bags, but a durable watch we can track and send reminders/text to would be GREAT at the right price point.
I want to add that I am one of those few people who bought an iPhone because I really wanted an Apple Watch. I was really swayed by the heart rate accuracy and available apps.
Please compare apples with apples: iPhone 16 & Pixel 9; iPhone 16 pro & Pixel 9 pro. Especially photos, videos and local secure AI (on device).
What pocasting software do you guys use to record?
“Da” ist russian not German. 😄
There’s a reason I love the live blogs at Apple Events
iPhone releases are pretty much pointless at this point.
Great Video found out I can fly a drone by saying Hey Fly, Lenovo spins around and while I’m food shopping I have a robot follow me.Feeling Wonderful. Thanks Guy’s Enjoyed.💯✌️
For me though action button has been v very useful ..ive configured it to perform different actions in different phone’s orientation using shortcuts of course and its truly helpful for me
I’m now interested in what David thinks mainstream is.….drones aren’t mainstream in 2024? As compared to what?
Alex always speaking truth that nobody else will. 🤣
Is YouTube the only player in which to watch The Vergecast? I tried in Spotify and Apple Podcasts (both support video podcasts) and audio was the only version available.
Love the adds for the verge
