Is a Windows/Android HYBRID laptop worth it? (Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid REVIEW)

The Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid is a unique laptop that is part Windows and part Android. The keyboard section houses an Intel-powered Windows PC, while the screen section houses a Snapdragon-powered Android tablet. This gives you access to two different operating systems everywhere you go without the hassle of carrying around two different gadgets. Is this worth it, though?

#WindowsAndroid #HYBRID #laptop #worth #Lenovo #ThinkBook #Gen #Hybrid #REVIEW
for that price i wish it came with the Snapdragon X elite or plus
So replacing the screen is as expensive as getting a flagship tablet x); well, what can I say? I wish money could grow on trees.
Literally makes no sense whatsoever. You can just use the Your Phone application to stream Android apps from your phone if you really need to use Android apps. Good luck getting Android updates, too. Lenovo is a complete joke at supporting niche devices like this for more than a year or two.
This solves a desperately needed niche right now. Tablets are too watered down (OS-wise) to be laptop replacements. Laptops aren’t watered down and mobile to be a quick tablet replacement. Windows missed such a big opportunity to be the go-to in between but their surface tablets aren’t tablet‑y enough. Apple has the opportunity to fill this niche by allowing iPads to run mac apps, but they won’t because… profits.
I just want a device I can do heavy photoshop workloads on and then also just take to the gym to watch Netflix on the treadmill.
I just want the system to have Snapdragon X Elite
60hz display will make me puke blood and die, should be illegal on anything other than smartwatch
Its a great value for 2000$. Its not for me but i know people who would love this.
I would be worried about the android update support and what happens when u need to get a new battery ? Will it have enoughr supprt ?
Love the idea would definitely buy this when available. The battery issue the tablet usb c should be on the side.
It would be great if the tablet run chrome os, it just my opinion
Make it a Linux desktop and Android tablet and now you are talking
Yes we know. Price is insane. But it’s pretty cool nonetheless. The price of tech is insane.
If apple does this they could really pull it off on the continuity side of things since they already have a great ecosystem
This is something i want.
That framework company should do this
I really hope Lenovo keeps making this product. I was initially planning to get the Yoga 9i 2‑in‑1 but if I’m being honest with myself, this product solves a very big need for me…just not at this price point.
If it were closer to $1,800, then yeah, big steal.
Also, this feels like a first-genit was a product (albeit a good and solid first-gen product). Let’s see what happens next year.
Hopefully a better SoC for the Android side, a better webcam and better continuity features.
I’ll stick with my separate Android tablet and Windows laptop. lol
I have to agree with his conclusion that you would be better buying them separately.
Anyone else thinking it would be cool to be able to buy just the keyboard portion and connect it to an external monitor like bread box/keyboard wedge computers of old?
When there is Surface Pro and you can have both a laptop and a tablet in a single device without having to fiddle with managing two OSes and syncing between them, this machine just doesn’t make any sense.
Tbh, they could just use Qualcomm x elite and dual boot android/windows for ARM.
Actually I want full UEFI GUI on arm laptops with directly booting different OS just like x86. Then we can have android dual boot for things like watching movies, mobile games and do mobile stuff while windows/linux for actual work. Microsoft killing android subsystem is a bad decision just because they didn’t wanted android apps to ve optimized for desktop environment( freeform windows, better UI scaling) which would mean less windows app optimizations or even buildings new apps targeting windows.
For example macOS have apps built targeted specifically macOS which is different from ipad OS while windows just gets web app which is not optimized for performance in mind. You will find this true for many apps. Hence Microsoft killed android support so that companies won’t just invest on Android apps optimizations rather than creating new apps targeted to windows ARM.
hell yeah is the answer to that ! and i basiacalky need some devices with sim capabilitiea can make calle insternet and all in one and i cant do my office works. so hell yes no need to spemd extra on iphone for god sake. its 2025 almost. still dumb technology. with nonsupport of 120 display.
This concept is like how Server Computer works or Dual boot system 😅. Although it’s different
For US buyers, it’s already on discount to 2k-ish! I’m not a US customer but I’ve been following updates on the product almost daily — waiting of it to be available where I live (Singapore). So please purchase it so it’ll not scare Lenovo to not release it here! I want it so badly!
It’s a surface pro ?
i’d rather use 2 in 1 laptop, and run android emulator inside, or maybe dual boot. i don’t see i would need Android tablet and a Laptop at the same time. And with Link to Windows, i could sorta run android apps by mirroring my phone.
what i really want is a ANDROID PHONE that if connected to a display, it would BOOT WINDOWS on ARM. That would be the Ultimate DeX considering Windows on ARM are more and more viable for pretty much all usage
Does anyone here remember the Samsung Ativ Q? Back in the day when the Windows home button could switch between Windows 8 and Android.
I want a Samsung tablet with an s pen that runs chrome os
samsung make the same thing
1. I need a numpad.
2. For that price, I’d get teo devices like you mentioned. It’s just better. That way I separate work and pleasure.
This is so cool 😂
Snapdragon chip that’s behind for that price? Who’s advising lennovo? He should be fired!!!
Is gyroscope available?
Been waiting for a device like this for years, since Microsoft initially blocked any devices from releasing devices that were hybrid (there was a Samsung laptop that got blocked, several years back). Glad that OEM’s haven’t completely thrown out the idea. Hope they all continue to find a way to have both worlds. I’d gladly take a laptop/tablet combined, even if it means that the updates to the next version of Android aren’t there. My tendency to update my tablet/laptops extends several years beyond how often I’d upgrade my phone, so a hybrid tablet/laptop that had both a powerful Intel processor for the windows portion and strong Qualcomm (or equivalent) for the Android portion. I just hope all the other OEM’s think so too. Competition will help drive the interest and pricing down.
Ich liebe dieses laptop wo kann ich kaufen
This is what iPad fans want. An iPad that can be connected to a keyboard that turns it into a MacBook. But if it’s this expensive for windows plus android, if Apple does this, it might be even more expensive than the Vision Pro.
Imagine dual boot Android and Windows with Snapdragon X Plus
This is perfect —-price has already been cut
Make the display foldable then you can use it as a phone too.
Lol £1150 right now in UK
This is basically a modern day Microsoft Surface Book but with a nod to the decade-old Asus Transformer Book hybrid. I definitely would love to own this hybrid, even though a cheaper option with less powerful Windows CPU would be a welcome addition.
What would be a true killer feature is the ability to boot the Windows partition on the base directly to a secondary screen á la Raspberry Pi400.
Wait, is the battery capacity overall lower than 100whr? If not, you can fly with this no?
At 3500, you can buy one premium laptop, one premium tablet and one mid segment laptop. In laptop mode the Qualcomm chip is sitting there idle without doing anything, it is such a waste of silicon.
I see a big problem in that device.… It doesn’t have Linux.… I would buy it if it has the three options.… I am a 80% Linux 19% android 1% windows user.… You can’t ignore Linux nowadays
Is this better or worse than the lenovo tab extreme
