BYE BYE REMOTE!? Google TVs are getting even SMARTER (CES 2025 live demo)

Hey Google find the chan­nel or stream­ing ser­vice that is cur­rent­ly broad­cast­ing the Kansas City Chiefs vs Bal­ti­more Ravens… can it do that??

Won­der of these will come to Sony TVs and well Sony update their cur­rent and old­er mod­els my Sony x85j is still Google TV ver­sion 10

I don’t want to have to talk to my TV just to change chan­nels or the vol­ume its much eas­i­er to just sim­ply mash a bilut­ton than to say hey google increase the vol­ume. What if its late at night, you might dis­turb peo­ple sleep­ing. Also I don’t want my TV know­ing where I am, its bad enough it’s always lis­ten­ing to every­thing I say. Next they’ll put wheels or legs on it and then it might kill me in my sleep one night 😅😅

I’m stay­ing home watch tv when I’m not in the mood of talk­ing and now I have to talk to my tv. Why is this not a pri­va­cy con­cern anyway?

Home Assis­tant can already do all of this.

I’m still think­ing how stu­pid­ly named their AI assis­tant Gem­i­ni is…they could’ve asked chat­g­pt for some bet­ter nam­ing sug­ges­tions if they were lack­ing ideas.

So this is why I’m so broke thanks to AI

But cam­era in a TV of your bed­room, kitchen, hall and any­where peo­ple keep them these days, con­nect­ed to google servers 24x7 who would­n’t want that?

Wait, you for­got to test one use case : watch­ing TV!

Okay, but why? It’s like the “smart” fridge. Cool idea but why?

So the TV spies on you 24/7 365. How much of what it sens­es does it feed to Google for AI train­ing and Ad rev­enue and sell­ing to third par­ties. No thank you I just want a big old dumb TV that only does not have a clue about what is in my house. I’d like at least a feel­ing of hav­ing a qui­et pri­vate space.

It’s real­ly nice to walk by the TV and know that your ener­gy bill is going up when you have no inten­tion of using it! And, every­one, includ­ing guests, can see what comes up on my phone.
And who needs a remote when you can hear, “Hey, Google, change the chan­nel,” yelled through the house when the baby is sleep­ing.
Now your tv is lis­ten­ing to you as well.as your alexa, great!!

i just wan­na be able to shout pause or play for any­thing im watch­ing or skip show intros or move to the next episode or adjust vol­umn, or change tv inputs etc with­out hav­ing to fid­dle with a remote or acti­vate by say­ing ok google or hey siri and for it to be super good at it and not mis­un­der­stand, cant theyw ork on that instead of weath­er or photos

Smart devices = thiev­ing your per­son­al data and sell­ing on to data bro­kers. Do not be fools peo­ple avoid smart devices.

I wish they would fig­ure out how to make the Google Assis­tant to not react to a YouTube video say­ing “Hey, Google”

Do you remem­ber when we all coped with­out ask­ing “what’s the weath­er today” con­tin­u­al­ly from these ridicu­lous­ly expen­sive devices

Since Google likes to not sup­port prod­ucts and aban­don them. When I want­ed a secu­ri­ty cam­era sys­tem, I went with Unifi (Ubiq­ui­ti). All of my video data is stored in my house on 16 TB dri­ves. And there are no sub­scrip­tions to pay.

Seems like most of this, includ­ing the pres­ence sen­sor could be built into a new Google stream­ing box that sits out in the open. The only thing that might not work well is a self-adjust­ing bright­ness and col­or bal­ance fea­ture like the small Google Nest Hubs dis­plays have. I like how those feel almost like a non illu­mi­nat­ed sur­face in the room. A TV that could do that would be pret­ty cool.

How does this TV works with my oth­er mics gad­gets near­by that works with google assistant?
