It’s unfor­tu­nate. I think that Robert De Niro is a fine actor but he unnec­es­sar­i­ly runs con­ser­v­a­tives through the mud. He doesn’t know how to crit­i­cize peo­ple cor­rect­ly evi­dent­ly. You either go the tongue-in-cheek route or you’re con­struc­tive. I would be fine if he said, “Don­ald Trump doesn’t know what he’s doing and has no busi­ness being in the White House.” I would dis­agree but I’d under­stand. Instead De Niro not only uses log­i­cal fal­lac­i­es against Trump but his vot­ers as well. For that rea­son I decid­ed to boy­cott De Niro’s movies quite a few years ago and I don’t think I’ll change my mind. Meryl Streep is the same although she’s been more civ­il at least. But Hol­ly­wood stars need to under­stand what they do is a busi­ness and if they insult one side they jeop­ar­dize los­ing one-half of rev­enues which is almost always a very poor decision.
