We always talk about our gadgets as “tools,” but maybe that’s not quite right. The words we use to describe our phones matter, and so a better word is “instrument.” In this episode of Processor, Dieter Bohn explains why. Subscribe:

Do you view your phone as a tool, instrument, or something else? — Dieter
Wait, wut?
LIES this a celly that’s a tool
A phone is a tool. A computer like a laptop or a desktop is an instrument. Over the years, I always gave my computers names, but whatever phone I’m using is just the phone.
What a terribly boring article. Not to mention useless.
But a music instrument is a tool with which you can play music
I wish this video has 1 billion views.
I see my phone as heirloom
Skedaddle skidoodle, microwave charges my phone so it exploded… yeah
Excellent video
I enjoyed this. Converstion starter.
I think it’s time for Dieter to go solo. He is the only reason I am still subbed to The Verge.
This video is the bane of my existence.
This video is superbly apt in today’s constant de-humanizing society. Love the metaphor! Gr8
This is really a profound idea !!!
I use my phone literally as a tool, TOF measurements are really accurate in this age.
Instruments are subcategories of tools…
Really great work Dieter. One of your best I must say. So very insightful and amazing thought process. You inspire me to apply similar amount of dedication to whatever I do.
Thank you!
I think about this video a lot. One of the worst, most brain-dead things I’ve ever seen.
There’s honestly nothing more dangerous than a straight white man who thinks he’s capable of critical thought
Sensational video!!!
Cool video thanks for your perspective
