Questionable to say at least!
honestly why the 18 rotors and not the traditional 1 or 2. this would generate unnecessary weight in redundant motors and the whole bar bracket system, not to mention cost and complexity of manufacture?
The host asked some good questions. He could at least have dressed up a bit though — it’s frickin’ CES, man!
No matter how neat the design.… futuristic looking… etc.
The bottleneck is the BATTERY.…
20~30 min flight time is barely acceptable. Also, it has to be grounded for hours for recharging after each flight.
Until there is a breakthrough in the battery technology, this type of vehicles will not be practical and mainstream.
I am putting my hope on Samsung’s new graphene battery.
helicopter…okay
Unsafe definitely …because it does not have emergency gliding wings
What a wonderful future when a myriad of Volocopters will fly all around the place for the joy of a happy few. The others will jam the ground in their car. I can’t wait…
those vibrations are awful.
What’s the basement life on this? 30 seconds?
Do you know how much noise pollution this will emit? Answer: too much for it to be passed as a viable transport system. Not to mention the amount of anxiety folks on the ground will have with copters constantly flying overhead like cars.. This technology isnt really ideal compared to other forms of transportation that currently exist. Someone prove me wrong?
So an easier way for people who want to commit suicide to commit suicide
have you heard of the lilium jet? thats the real thing
It’s an interesting helicopter design but a parachute in a helicopter is ridiculously unnecessary because helicopters have auto rotation, as demonstrated by smarter every day. Unless the pitch of the blades are fixed in place.
Clickbait
Those rotators need to be much, much smaller if it is going to be pragmatic in an urban environment.
Bullshit
Volocopter won’t work when there is rain and if it ran out of battery, we will fall down. Boom! XD
Flying car = flar? far? flyr?
Segway 2.0
Anything like that won’t be allowed in the US for years. Likely decades. The FAA can’t even figure out how to regulate a toy drone and doesn’t have enough staffing to monitor the commercial and private traffic that already exists. Basically, if the passenger is the operator then he/she must be a licensed pilot (in the US). It the passenger is cargo and the operator is remote then the operator needs to have visual contact with the aircraft. And if the operation is completely automated, uncharted territory. And no matter what operation they use, an entire new volume of federal aviation regulations would need to be proposed, debated, modified, and published. The FAA shuts down in uncharted territory.
Look at that.…It’s a bird, it’s a plane
They should add a parachute on top yo catch it if it falls or not
How does the flying path for the Volocopter is controlled as not to crash with regular aircraft? How quickly can it respond to get out of the way of incoming moving or stationary obstacles and objects?
a Flying car..?????? What kind of clown reporter are you?? This is a Full Size Drone Copter.. the wave of the future that will be able to transport people safely and economically in the very near future.….….
please check mine too but not as this one

If you thought that was impressive, then look at this flying taxi that looks a bit more practical.

What’s gonna happen when the 1% have no use for us peasants anymore?
Could one take a wheelchair along?
Meet George Jetson…
20kts in Boston or Chicago… umm.. I’ll take an uber.
Its not a flying car… its a weird looking helicopter..
Thanks but I’ll wait until the anti gravity shuttles from SpaceX comes out.
Surely you could just go for 25 minute hops to get wherever you want? Stretch your legs, have a cuppa etc., get back in the air with a preloaded exchange battery from the hopping station?
Somehow I doubt big business would have got on board if the volocopter were not a serious contender. Helicopters are intrinsically unstable. Managing them requires pilot skill and constant attention. The drive trains are mechanically complex. The noise is disruptive. The volocopter seems to have bypassed some of these problems. Sure, it has problems of its own (flight range for example), but it is early days …
Copycat from EHANG !
4:19 humm 100$ fare…no thanks
You know it seems it would be not too hard to add an emergency parachute right in the middle of all those blades on the top there
The advantage of this is that if one or two motor fails it can land safely
It’s not a car, flying or not.
This is the best i see by now between all the passenger drones
Stop calling this a flying car :/
Cool. Not a flying car though… even an ultralight has smaller parking capability.
How can I buy this one
