Microsoft’s new HoloLens video-capture hack

Microsoft’s HoloLens headset has always had a built-in way to capture video, but the quality wasn’t very good. Now, Microsoft has just released a hack that HoloLens wearers can use to make true-to-live mixed reality videos.

can anyone guess her age?
Belive me or not , over 20 years from now we will do this with our retina.
1:01 ouch..
does the image still not reach the corners of your field of view?
Cool, there was only one of you this time. Nice video
It’s great, but still dishonest portrayal of the FOV and its implications. Don’t over-hype it MS.
All those human evolutions have came to this? Lol
Couldn’t this work with existing Kinect cameras?
The game they are playing makes no sense.
This is going to make Mixed Reality filmmaking easier than ever before. Too bad it’s still pretty expensive. But give it a couple years… soon you’ll be doing a good chunk of VFX/3D/Post in camera itself, stuntin on James Cameron’s Avatar rig.
Every time I see a RED Dragon camera I see a RED Dragon camera.
Wonder if this means they’re preparing an actual product to do capturing like this, like a stripped down camera accessory that just provides position data.
In a meta sort of way what does it mean. seems to be conflicting translations online
I’ve got you in my sight.….
That is not a hack i have used one it is a special program.
This is the sexiest review I’ve seen <3 <3 <3 just in time for Valentine’s Day!
I wish that Microsoft(or some independent person) would make some software that would let HTC Vive users that have the leap motion play/run hololens programs and games by using the front facing camera on the vive and positional data to map out your room(using photogrammetry) and then once you’ve mapped your room you could use the leap motion for the gestures or I guess the vive controllers but that’d be less fun and I know you wouldn’t be able to see your pets or other people walking around since it’s a predetermined area that was mapped out but it would be better than nothing and most likely your vive ready computer would have more processing power than the hololens
Hey I got one of those!
Cool jacket
Make the friggin fov bigger
When everyone uses exactky THE SAME GESTURE FOR EVERYTHING it makes me think this thing is not real. Surely gesture control can recognise more gestures and any software needs more than pinchig your finger for whatever it is you are doing. Makes me think these people are faking it.
EAT. A. LOZENGE.
I really want this to be consumer ready so bad
I started learning Unity last year just to play with HoloLens and develop some cool stuff! in 3 years I must feel myself a lot comfortable with SDK and Augmented reality and computer vision and deep learning… a lot to cover 🙂
Oh, we recognize the value. Just none of us have $3,000 to drop on a mixed reality headset. We got bills to pay!
‘its interesting in a meta kind of way’ jesus
I would love to have one, but it’s freaking $3000, consumer version please
I want to see something like the anime Dennou Coil, where augmented reality headsets (or glasses) are used, not just for games and interactive demos, but to enhance everyday life. For example, virtual pets that actually roam around the environment even when you’re not using it, or other virtual things that exist in various real world locations that don’t just spawn right in front of you, but rather, you have to find them. They could even be integrated with real objects. This kind of immersion and precision of placement may be difficult to pull off, but I could see it being possible with both user contributions and 3D mapping that could be made possible by future headsets.
Learn the difference :
Oculus/VIVE = Virtual Reality
HoloLens = Augmented Reality
Why is everybody in this video spraying imaginary perfume bottles?
Well, the DEVELOPMENT KIT started shipping last spring… but HoloLens hasn’t received a consumer version yet. I know it’s a minor detail but please stop spreading false information.
I want galaxy S9 with AR feature !
i dont have hololans 😢😢😢😢😢😢😭😭😭😭
Soooo is this MSFT’s response to the Vive Tracker?
I want to know how to implement a third-party perspective. Can you tell me?
