It’s not a mystery why batteries explode. In fact, it’s in their nature to do so, and we’re all carrying around little bombs of energy. Subscribe:
The Verge explains how batteries, like that of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, work and why it seems like so many are blowing up.

People need to migrate away from Lion batteries.
She looks like a Poogie! So cute!
it is just a bad design, the terminals would short internally because they are too close together
The Diagram in 1:12 is misleading, Load is not properly presented
this doesn’t explain why samsung doesn’t just keep producing note 7 with a very safe, simply use battery instead of recalling it completely like it’s some unknown alien tech
this is why you should learn to form an opinion for yourself on any trendy topic instead of latching on blindly.
Samsung said it received ‘at least’ 26 false reports of the Galaxy Note 7 exploding in 15 countries.

ps: the verge really needs to use the right videos this is what i mean..lmao most of those were from 18650 batterys lose in peoples pockets / purse from people useing them for vape devices
thanks. very insightful.
maybe Samsung check there phone before selling and check there battery.
brawndo has electrolytes
why can’t i unlock a samsung 7 and a 7 edge from Verizon?? When I start putting the manufactuer, it only gives me iphone and Blueberry!!!!
If you go cheap so this is made of china
Can’t they just replace the battery of the note 7 to the battery that used for the s6 and s6 edge
The note 7 has lipo batteries not lithum
did anyone else get a Samsung ad on this video
If it was the battery itself then how come the S7 Edge isn’t exploding? I think they share the exact same battery pack. People have speculated that it’s the battery fail-safe (a component built into the Note 7’s motherboard) that is causing the battery explosion. Its purpose is to monitor the battery and detect voltage abnormalities and to stop a battery from being overcharged or to keep it from being overvolted.
Maybe that’s why my Galaxy E5 reboots automatically every once and a while. Maybe it’s trying to prevent the battery from blowing up.
Her voice is so soothing
Pro tip: Don’t use clips that were from braille skateboarding like the first exploding battery. They drilled through the phone.
What do you call the croaking sound american women make when they speak?
li-po batteries safer than li-ion?
“The problem isn’t the phone. It’s the battery.”
So… the problem is the phone.
Thanks for showing me what it looks like to overfill a Glass, I feel much smarter now.
This girl’s voice is really really really really really annoying
what phone is the best… a9 pro or c9 pro… or s7 edge or xperia z5… plsss answer guys
Cathode is the -. Anode is the +. The electrons don’t just move back and forth across the divider like that during charging and discharging (unless the battery is exploding, then yes). The electrons flow from the — terminal, through the wires, through the load (the phone) and to the + terminal where they remain until a recharge process sends them back.
I love my note 5
So, if you were to simply open up a Note 7 and put in a more stable battery, would it not explode?
Great video!
i knew it its the buffed up capasity and fastcharging thingy that does it,
i have a7 2016 will it explode?
lol some people have not paid attention in chemistry. Then wanna act like they know everything. (not against the video)
so you have to buy new ones. they think you will buy more of their things but what they didn’t realize is no one wants to die using there phones so you will buy from some one else
vocal fry
Positively charged electrode is Anode, btw
Your voice is so annoying 😡😡
Little bombs of energy? Call it what it is — The rich man’s IED. With the few hundred thousand possible ordinances in the warehouse — think Samsung could have annexed a small sovereign nation… not North Korea though, i like Kim Jong Un.
The Note 7 doesn’t have a lithium-ion battery it has a li-po battery aka lithium- polymer. They are capable of holding far more energy and power. That’s why these phones are catching fire and others don’t.
I hate you
stop people walking behind you this is so lame & unprofessional
Interesting… very interesting… 🤔 so.. now that I’ve learned how to prevent my phone from exploding… how do I get you phone number in it? ;D
I like your voice and accent haha
Because competing companies planted bombs on it
Uhhhh batteries are pretty dangerous anyway and this is a great informative video
