Alone
Season 3
Episode 1
In Alone, ten men are left in solitude, and separated from each other, in the harsh Vancouver Island wilderness. With no camera crews or producers, they have to survive using only what they can stuff into a backpack. They will hunt, build shelters and fend off predators as they face extreme isolation, psychological distress and the terrifying plunge into the unknown.

Sleeping bag seems light at zero F — when you are calorie deprived you feel WAY colder than normal. Wish they said what food rations they took. Rice seems like a bad choice compared to jerky or pemmican.
31 inch axe is a bit short I’ve found. A 34 is about right.
I like his choices. Good luck my friend!
Only 1 person brought a gill net and those lakes are full of fish. Crazy!
Britt kept repeating he could never be a vegetarian, he doesn’t know how they do it. He got it twisted. As ALL he could get out there was plants. He would have been way worse off without those, maybe have lasted less time. They helped you bro.
Awesome kit
Did he use any of that gear lol
CS shovel, modified to have a REAL saw edge. Modified Crunch, with a Silky saw blade, 5 qt skillet, 8 treblehooks and line, sleeping bag (double stuffed) 12x12 tarp, big roll of heavy duty duct tape, Chief Aj’s slingbow, one 5‑lb ration of mixed pemmican and gorp, and a 2 person hammock made out of 750 paracord.
carleigh went 86 days with no axe. Alan won season one, 56 days with no axe. It’s a wasted pick. A ferrorod is a wasted pick. Fire-roll a chunk of your T shirt to get your first fire. Once you have ashes to mix with tinder, and charred punkwood, and pine resin mixed with dried cedar bark, in a dry bag made of a gaiter and tape, you’ll be able to easily start the next fire, using any carbon steel tool and any hard, sharp rock. If you bed some redhot coals and dry wood in a pile of ashes in a pit, it will still re-ignite for at least 6 hours later, assuming that you’ve made a shelter over the fire. So you’ll rarely need to start a new fire, cause you wont be sleeping for longer spells than that, under the conditions of this show.
and none have brought a PARACORD gillnet or PARACORD hammock. you just split the outer sheathing with your knife. YOu can weave 300 sq ft of 4″ mesh netting in half a day ‚using the 9 inner strands of the 750 paracord. While a 150 sq ft gillnet might not be of much value, 4000 sq ft of 4″ mesh, or fold it over, tie every other mesh and have 2000 sq ft of 2″ mesh. 13x as much netting as just the “issue” gillnet is going to feed you a LOT better than 25 hooks can every do! You’ll catch so many fish that you have to preserve 5 or more lbs of them every day, and the guts and heads will bait in fish, birds, and mammals.
dont bother with animal traps until you’ve got LOTS of preserved fish. Once it gets too stormy to be out on the outrigger raft, then convert some of the netting, via sapling frames, into boxtraps. for birds and mammals. You’ll first have to create a lot of small brush piles, all around your camp, so the critters feel safe. Then start baiting those piles, with fish guts and heads, and with freshly peeled cambium. over time, make the sapling frames and the triggers for the traps, and put the baits therein. After the critters get used to those items, build the crossed-stick sliding doors and rear ends of the traps. then, over time, add the netting around the sides, leave the ends open. Once the critters are passing thru the traps to take the bait, you add the rear end, but leave the front end open. After they enter the traps and take the bait, THEN you set the front doors and the triggers. the brush piles, pieces of traps, but no netting, etc, part is likely to take a month, and the getting them used to the netting might well take 2 more weeks.
fish are many times easier to trap than animals. without the proper snaring gear, which aint allowed on this show, you’re most unlikely to catch anything. Deadfalls, etc, rarely work on anything other than mice, and your snare catches will normally be taken by predators. you have to bait traps and keep them close to your camp, so that you dont waste calories setting and servicing your trapline. You are burning 100 calories with every mile that you walk, on level, solid ground, at room temp. In the wind, dampness and cold, you’re burning more. So you just can’t do so without a calorie source (ie,the netted fish and the juiced kelp).
30 second ad to watch a 3 minute video. Thanks for that.

Very good, Thank you very much
If someone has meds from the doc, are they still able to make it onto the show?
Saw the job title…tried not to judge. Saw the first item was a sleeping bag…knew he wasn’t getting far.
Britt almost made it.
Britt was one of my favorites. I was laughing hard when he was imitating his son dancing.
What about the tarp he had????
