Lenovo showed off two new rollable devices at Mobile World Congress 2023. The first was its rollable laptop that was first teased last October. When fully unrolled, Lenovo’s rollable laptop has a 15.3‑inch display with an 8:9 aspect ratio, which the company points out is like having two 16:9 displays on top of one another. But we still don’t know details on battery life, durability, or weight, so it’s clear they’re still far from ready for a public release.
Lenovo also announced a rolling phone. When all neatly rolled up, Lenovo’s Motorola rollable offers a 5‑inch display with a 15:9 aspect ratio. Then, with a small double tap of a side button, the screen unfurls to give you a remarkably tall 6.5‑inch display with a 22:9 aspect ratio. Lenovo would be the first to admit that its rollable concept devices are far from ready for prime time, but they offer a compelling argument for an alternative, rollable future. #Lenovo #MWC #MWC2023

It’s 2023 and the scroll is back! What should roll next?
Stuff like that!
It’s technically a slide out display. What’s rollable about this? Beautiful though 😍
Cool concept. I would be constantly expanding & contracting the screen, just to flex. 😏
Although it is commendable, irl use case, especially the rollable display is expanded, when tilted more than a certain angle there is possibility of laptop falling with screen down keyboard up. They might need to make the base part (ie the part where keyboard and trackpad exist) heavier
Keep it going. I know theres lots of videos from MWC
Welcome to screen printers.
Really like this.
360p squad! 😂
Motoroller
360p?
😂 360p what is that The Verge??
I officially hate ‘content creator’ now, it’s so bloodless and emotionless. I made some content for my toilet just now, too. They’re artists and craftspeople! It’s even easier to say! Yes, even people who edit video and audio, are doing a craft to create art.
I woulda been rebellious enough to pick it up. Haha
I thought the final thumbs up was really cool! The laptop idea is insane!
It’s more like a sliding screen. But still pretty cool.
Lol F a rollable display. I have a microsoft surfacebook 2 that is dead with no ability to get my information on it since the batteries are not replaceable. I’m done with this gimmicky bull!
I dig the idea of using the movable display to cover the camera and other bits until you need them.
No one needs to work this hard on the go… It’s cool and all but the speakers will probably be rubbish to consume contents on a futuristic rolled out screen laptop 🤷🏻♂️
Moving parts wear out, jam, and don’t last. Then what? Nah, I’m not convinced 😐
I like the idea of the rollable laptop screen not not for the phone. I feel like adding it to something that’s going in and out of a pocket is asking for trouble
What a terrible closing, just end the video, roll up the credits please
The more weird mechanical features you put on a laptop, the more stuff that will go wrong with it.
In my head at least I feel like rollables are better than flips and folds, I can’t explain why, but it looks cooler
That is a cool phone.
They need to figure out a way to expand/rollout not just vertically, but also HORIZONTALLY.
Where the hell is the rollable LAPTOP? This is a stupid phone no one asked for. smh
Should roll out sides to get rid of black bars (correct aspect ratios)
What’s next? Snortable? Injectable?
That smartphone better be out soon. I don’t mind the thickness of the phone.
