Did Google’s Nexus line match its hype?

We all seemed to love Google’s Nexus series of products. They started a lot of us out on Android back in the day and we hold them in high regard. But is this legendary status legitimate? Or are we simply looking back through rose-tinted glasses?

Cool one
System update in Nexus 6p all process update plzz reply
I have a Nexus 5 and a Pixel XL and both are still working as well as they ever did. What is not so good is that neither device still receives security updates. I am particularly upset about my Pixel XL not receiving support because it is faster and has more memory than most mid range android phones and so could easily be supported if Google chose to do so. The ending of support on my Pixel XL forced me to buy an iPhone 7 in search of five years of iOS and security updates.
Another Nexus 6 owner here.
Great phone, my first experience of a flagship device. Amazing screen and stereo speakers for that time and great for media consumption. It had its issues for sure but it was a great experience nonetheless.
I am still using nexus 5
It great for developers first steps
I love it + there are many Android roms with latest Android versions which helps me to keep up with the updates and I have a lot of memories with this device
I can’t just give away this device
It is true the device heats so fast while playing games of high size or requires at least 2 gb ram but it’s fine and I’m proud to say that I own a nexus device
LG Nexus 4 is the best.…
My Nexus 5x was also ended up dead by boot loop. Faulty hardware !
Best phone
Huge fan of the Nexus phones. My favorite was the Nexus 5. Cheap. Simple. Updates. Great idea.
The Nexus 4 was so ahead of it’s time. Anyone else have one? Mine still runs and although I have a Note 9 which runs circles around it and I don’t do rooting and custom roms anymore, the Nexus 4 will always be my favorite. The clean glass front and back, the beach shimmering design, the rubberized sides, clean design (albeit chunky bezels by today’s standards). A 4G LTE radio you could enable via root and even had wireless charging and NFC in 2012 with OTG support. All for a little over $240 for a 16GB model.
Ofcause I was hype telling my friend that I own nexus device.
nexus 7
nexus 7 2013
nexus 6P
I really love it, front facing speakers and bloat free software…
Just the good old days
Still using the Nexus 5x. Seeing this video on Nexus 5x. ✌🏼
Nexus 5 is best phone 🙂
6p was an amazing phone at the perfect price… Sad to see the line die and google phones getting expensive like everyone else
I had the nexus 6 Motorola. Loved it. Would have kept it till now even. Only reason why I changed was cos it didnt have a fingerprint scanner
I was in the final years of school during those times…had a feature phone and always dreamt of owning one Nexus with those bold designs but now that I am able to get much better things on my own, the Nexus line is no more. If it ever comes back, I’ll be very happy.
Watching on my Nexus 6. Still works fine.
Ah, the simple days of fastboot oem unlock. I miss the excitement of that time.
Sending this video love from a Nexus6 in 2020. :~)

Yes the phone runs better then new with Android 10 and my only complaint is battery life.
I’m using a nexus 6p today! But I clcant play Call of duty very well 🙁
The nexus 6p photo processing remains fantastic. The natural skin tone beats out modern pixel and samsumg
Which was your favourite Nexus?
I had a Nexus 6p years ago, but as soon as I upgraded it to Android 8.1, I ran into the bootloop problem that you spoke about. It was such a shame as it was the first phone that I owned that had the beautiful Google camera software.
Still have my N5 and always loved using it
I miss Nexus, I miss the community..
Nexus line was great, the hardware usually lacked in areas that weren’t vital to a solid end user experience but the software along with how easy to root they were made me a big fan. The timely updates were icing on the cake. They felt like devices made for power users like me who didn’t care as much about some of the minor features the nexus phones lacked.
I had the Nexus 6 years ago. It got stolen. I used to like that device a lot. 👍🏻
Yes it was fantastic, nexus 6 and 6p were the best.
i still remember buying the nexus one from google website, i threw away the iphone 3gs and fell in love with android then ordered the Nexus S the curved screen was awesome, i still have running custom mode now.
This is a brainwash job right? The Pixel and Nexus line are/ were just not very good. Every year since conception the lines have been sales flops and hardware fault laddened devices.
My dad still uses nexus 5 as secondary phone
i think this guy should make a sleep playlist on spotify reading mundane stuff.

Yes excellent
I was just thinking about getting a MNML case too…
It took a few years but accomplished what it set out to. I had multiple nexus phones and use oneplus now aka nexus not fully run by google.
Business Opportunity in Ruvol
I have invented a Board Game [still unpublished and not yet out in the market] that I believe is guaranteed to be as challenging and exciting as CHESS. I called it “RUVOL.”
It is my hope that one day Ruvol may surpass chess as the “Number One Board Game in the World.”
The weakness of chess is it always starts in fixed positions that the opening moves become “memorizable.” In fact, not a few have so mastered the moves that they can play against their opponents “blindfolded.” It is for this very reason that the great Bobby Fischer introduced his so-called “Fischer Random Chess,” where the starting position of the pieces is “randomized” to make the memorization of openings impracticable. Fortunately, it is also for this reason that I invented Ruvol where “every game” has been calculated to be a challenging one to play.
HOW IS RUVOL PLAYED and HOW YOU CAN MONETIZE IT?
I detailed everything in my YouTube video. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jcqth0m3-R0
BIG MONEY POTENTIAL IN RUVOL!
It is worthwhile to note that the people who play chess will be the same people who will play Ruvol. In my Google search, I learned there are around 800 million chess players in the world. Even just a small percentage of these 800 million is good enough to earn big money from Ruvol either as an ONLINE GAME BUSINESS or as a PHYSICAL PRODUCT DISTRIBUTOR.

Thanks and God bless!

I tried some of the Nexus and felt in love with the Nexus 4 (After doing the copper shim mod and unlocking the CPU performance clockspeed) and also the Nexus 6 even though the battery life was terrible. Disliked the very poor build quality of the Nexus 5 and then fell in love with the Pixel XL, the Pixel 2 XL was good even though the screen had a slight blue tint but very tolerable. The Pixel 3 notch was a put off for me, the Pixel 3a XL had an amazing battery life and surprising good performance for a Snapdragon 670 CPU but the Pixel 4 XL was horrible, loved the performance, build quality, camera and display but had the dreaded black screen of death and had to take it to warranty repairs like 4 times (UbreakIfiXit is the worst partner Google could ever team up with), I end up angry and smashed the phone to pieces and jumped to the Pixel 4a which should arrive in a few days while using the good ole Pixel 3a XL which even with its terrible plasticky feeling, it is a very surprising phone, barely any different from the PIxel 4 XL performance even with demanding tasks except gaming and app installation (The Adreno 618 and eMMC flash cant hold a candle against the Adreno 640 and the UFS storage)
