At the edge of the solar system, Voyager 1 is reporting a sharp increase in cosmic rays that could herald the spacecraft’s long-awaited entry into interstellar space.

Awww, its like the sun is protecting us 🙂
V’ger! Do not seek the Creator!
Thank you sir 🙂
its fast but not that fast lol it travels 11 miles in a second
Kirk Unit, V’ger requires the information!
Star Trek The Motion Picture. Voyager is on it’s way back to Earth all growed up. It now calls itself V’ger and seeks it’s creator (mankind).
Space is essentially a vacuum, so moving objects are unlikely to change speed (or direction) unless they are influenced by other objects.
Voyager 1 and 2 were aimed so that their trajectories came within the influence of the large planets. The gravity (at that distance) increased the speed of the spacecraft, but it wasn’t strong enough to capture the craft. It would be like you trying to capture a speeding car with a strong magnet.
Who knows? The craft might have been damaged by micro-meteoroids
Yes, but in the later series (eg. The Next Generation) it was modified to be: “.. where no one has gone before.”
Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generators (RTG). They should be good for another 13 years. The MSL also has one on board.
@NASAtelevision so how much longer will there be enough battery power to communicate with voyager I?
@Deviantial it’s actually 7.5minutes
Yep, Don’t ask me where I got that figure. But it does sound much cooler, hehe. Still amazing though after 34 years.
good work
Where no space craft has gone before? sure about that?
The guy who discovered radio also said the information wasn’t good for anything. The information that voyager continues to beam back to us will provide us with insight into the nature and hazards of travelling interstellar space. It is taking so long because of the distances involved Alpha Cenaturi = 5,878,625,373,183 miles… it’s not easy to imagine but a speeding bullet (700–900mph) would still take about 100,000 years to reach that star.
That’s an interesting idea… According to Drakes conservative equation the galaxy should be teeming with life… Maybe not very intelligent life like us yet.
Aliens, definitely. Multi-celled aliens, more than likely. Aliens as smart as us? Doesn’t look like it so far :/
but if you think about how old space is [that we know of] WE could be the multi-celled aliens compared to others out there
man, these vids are awesome!
Oh, I honestly don’t even think that’s the case, but just the fact that we have never had a probe not effected by our suns heliosphere, is enough to get me excited. I’ll try not to get up set when we don’t contact ET. Take care too:)
yeah 20 times faster than a bullet.. but not upwards, instead it circling the solarsystem
what???
sorry I don’t understand :)) oh yes.. maybe you’re refering to my name .. I was name after the country of Denmark :))
Sorry, I meant 8 minutes. If you take the average distance of the sun and Earth and divide by the speed of light, it actually comes to around 8.3 minutes.
Aren’t you curious to know what’s out there ? Why and how did we end up here ? How can you be satisfied with the non-sense life we’re living ?
If you want more pratical than philosophical arguments for exploring space, you should read/watch Hawking’s Why Sould We Go Into Space article/video.
So both Voyagers have been operating in space for 55 years? CRAZY!!
Yeah, you’re right, finding a physical thing would be useless since we can’t bring it back. But as Voyager can transmit datas, it can in a way bring back answers to questions. And if it was to discover something we don’t know yet, it would let us know, and such knowledge could provide explanations for things happening on earth.
Where no space probe has gone before…
Well, I wouldn’t say “no harvest”. Just look at the Wiki article about the probe, it actually sent back quite a huge load of interesting datas. But I can understand it can seem useless for most of the people.
thats quite a speed its got going there, wouldn’t like to crash at that speed but there is nothing around voyager for hundreds of thousands of miles 🙂
We need to send anothe up to date voyager with todays technology, Skip looking at the outer planets and just send it on the quickest route out of the solar system using an ion engine.
hehehe its ok .. anyway we cant sent the 2 probes in to the interstellar space because its not part of their job„ their mission is to sent back data from from the outskirts of the solar system… surely it will take thousands of years before they reach the nearest star and they’re probably already broken before they reach one … :))
Question:
Since we live in an expanding universe…
What would be the difference in the distance Voyager has traveled if the universe were static?
First man made vehicle to travel among the stars!
How it send data back?
Telemetry. the only known form of communication that can work fairly properly with such distances.
2025 is the best guess around. but both probes will maintain original course till interference of external force.
very interesting 🙂
I hope the voyager 1,found The Mass Relay 🙂
Aliens: I received the nudes thanks earthling
Voyager 1 is one of my favorite spacecraft even made
Hey you NASA fools why there is no Tamil language in The sounds of earth.
Are you considering that Tamil is not a language.…
It is the oldest language in the world…
It has many literatures in it…
It is the one of the finest language…
You should feel ashame for not include Tamil.…..
It is sweet, old but looks like a new born baby, finnest language in the world
Voyager 1 I respect you for your contribution. And we will miss you
hi
How much beautiful would be,
to bring back home voyager 1?
um
one thing I know is, we will never know, nothing
After nearly eight months, there is finally some good news! Nasa’s Voyager 1, which went silent in November 2023.
June 16, 2024. 😇😇
Thank good work❤❤
What I never seen this before😮
Love how this video was made the year I was born
