Neither should have won in this case… they just choose someone cause they felt they had to.
what’s worse than hearing that your sword is heavy? hearing that your sword is heavier after they called the other guy’s sword heavy
So it finally happened, a competition where there were no real winners, regardless of the ten thousand dollar prize…
Very disappointed in those swords, but I understand many things can go wrong during a limited time forging process. But I’ve never heard of a Landsknecht struggling to cut and thrust before. Should’ve gone through the entire pig with a single swing.
big dmg yet they r not sharp haha
if the sword only could sing “Erika” 😉
Watching so many guys make amazing swords and it just comes down to whose squeaked out the win, then seeing 2 abysmal swords and 1 gets 10k feels like a slap in the face…
Heavy sword:needs ultra fast spin to penetrate trough stuff
FIF rule: The only weapon can lose to a HEAVY weapon, is a HEAVY FOWARD one.
Probably the worst ep I’ve watched
Is everything ok at home, Todd?
It is a Zweihander
They both forgot to sharpen the sword ????? Worse ive ever seen on fif
Total and complete garbage. Neither sword had good edge geometry, nether sword utilized a distal taper and both swords looked like they weighed two to three times the six to ten pounds historical examples weighed. If you want to go on this show and you have never made a sword before, you should be willing to do a few hours of research online to learn about how swords were made historically before entering. Also, I see some people in the comments blaming Doug for having poor edge alignment, but that is a crock. Doug is a Kali master, a martial art that heavily utilizes edged weapons. Doug has also helped train US and Filipino special force. Oh, and he is also a designer of fighting knives as well. I’m not saying he is perfect, but what is more likely; that someone with his skills and training is failing to deliver lethal damage to the pig carcass because he doesn’t understand a basic principle like edge alignment, or that he is struggling to wield a poorly made, overweight, piece of scrap metal, with terrible edge geometry, no distal taper the a poorly designed handle?
Never saw such thin clubs before.
Some of the dullest weapon on the channel, while it is no easy to forge blades this large these were really poor.
Have to admit I was expecting some bisected pigs ! Not to see them clubbed to death ! A sweat sock with a stone in it will “keel” and you wouldn’t need three days to prep it !
God, I own swords a third that thickness and half the length who can do cutting tests better. And those tip profiles were very… broad. Like, really not stabbers, at all. That was one of the most disappointing blade tests I’ve seen since the Claymore video of legend.
Nr 1. Those guys use the swords complete wrong
Nr.2 tha Landsknechts Doppelsöldner used the flammberger to break or knock away the pikes of the opponent’s so their pikemen could attack afterwards
The way English speakers try and fail to pronounce “Landsknecht” will never not be entertaining to me.
you mean a zwihander
“the biggest problem i have is its a heavy sword”
its… a sword thats main strength is its weight and length tho…
This has got to be one of the shittiest final rounds ever
I never saw sword this dull. Better call these, metal sticks.
These have to be one of the worst “finished” weapons on the show.
Its like they just got a flat bar from the Home Depot and took it to the show/ competition.
looks like the sweihander UwU
disappointing.
3:38 a true Landsknecht sword.
Sometimes they have two guys who both deserve to win, other times they probably shouldn’t have a winner…
I’m always disappointed when the smiths err on the side of caution with a stout edge. It is like tanks vs DPS irl.
The länschnetsch sword😅
I feel like they both should’ve lost. That was terrible.
3:37 HAMON ENERGY! THE SWORD OF LUCK AND PLUCK
can someone please make an edit with this part but jojo-fied
This is a legendary weapon
3:27 Listen to it “sing”.
From tuning fork to tuning sword
“Landschneck sword“
God, you americans
