TV actress Surbhi Tiwari has filed a domestic violence and intimidation complaint against husband Praveen Kumar Sinha and his family. The actress, who was last seen with Ek Rishta Saajhedari Ka, tied the knot with the Delhi-based pilot and businessman in 2019. The actress added that she will soon file for divorce.
Speaking to ETimes, Surbhi revealed: “Praveen had agreed to move to Mumbai to live with me but later refused to move. I wanted to continue acting, but I couldn’t record daily soap operas because I flew with him. As a result, I was financially dependent on him and struggled for money. Also, I wanted to start a family soon, but he wasn’t thrilled.”
Surbhi had filed two cases of violence and domestic violence against her husband and his family — one in June 2020 and another in May this year. She added: “I have filed a complaint against Praveen, his mother and his sisters-in-law alleging domestic violence and intimidation. Also, I didn’t get my Stree Dhan back, which is my right. In addition to the jewelry that she and I got at the wedding, I also took silver cutlery with me. I have nothing in return. If I had that, I wouldn’t have to sell my gold jewelry for survival and medical expenses.”
She concluded by saying: I had planned to part ways amicably. However, Praveen told me that he would not divorce me and that I could sue the court for it. I have now decided to take legal action against her. I’ll be filing for divorce soon.”
Praveen could not be reached for comment. Surbhi had started her career before the 2000s. The actress has starred not only in mythological series, but also in popular shows like Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii and Shagun.
