Smart Pricing from Small Film!

Pak­ka Com­mer­cial with Gopic­hand and Raashi Khan­na has fall­en flat on its face and is head­ing for a dis­as­ter judge­ment. The open­ing of the film was weak and due to not so good word of mouth the col­lec­tions have dwin­dled and the film will be out of the­aters soon.

This could prove a boon for this week’s release, Hap­py Birth­day star­ring Lavanya Tri­pathi and direct­ed by Ritesh Rana. The direc­tor’s last film, Matthu Vadalara, was a decent hit and the same is expect­ed of Hap­py Birthday.

The film will enjoy a solo week­end as Naga Chai­tanya’s Thank You was post­poned and Pak­ka Com­mer­cial would have run out of fuel. Con­ve­nient­ly, emp­ty the­aters would be wait­ing to greet Hap­py Birthday.

Book­ings have opened for Hap­py Birth­day in Hyder­abad and what is encour­ag­ing is the smart pric­ing of the tick­ets. Pre­mi­um mul­ti­plex AMB cin­e­mas charge only ₹200 rs. Some oth­er sin­gle screens also opened book­ings with a max­i­mum price of ₹110.

This is a good move by pro­duc­ers and distributors/exhibitors alike to keep prices with­in reach of the gen­er­al pub­lic. The film is pri­mar­i­ly aimed at urban mass­es, but with this pric­ing, even the mass­es could check out the film, which could help attract more view­ers to the film.

It would be inter­est­ing to see if the film takes full advan­tage of this smart move.
