The upcoming Apple Series 8 Watch will be able to detect if you have a fever

The Apple Watch Series 8 will report­ed­ly include a body tem­per­a­ture sen­sor that can detect fever. The smart­watch may then rec­om­mend that you con­sult your doc­tor or use a spe­cial ther­mome­ter. The Apple Watch Series 8 is to be released in three vari­ants by the Amer­i­can tech­nol­o­gy group. Apple’s watch is expect­ed to also include the S8 chip, which may have the same char­ac­ter­is­tics as the S7. Released late last year, the portable CAD ren­der­er gives us a glimpse of its design.

Accord­ing to a newslet­ter by Bloomberg’s Mark Gur­man, the Apple Watch Series 8 will be able to detect fever. Users can expect a ton of addi­tion­al health mon­i­tor­ing fea­tures in Apple’s future wear­able. Gur­man also explained that the Apple Watch’s body tem­per­a­ture capa­bil­i­ty will not pro­vide cus­tomers with a pre­cise read­ing like a fore­head or wrist ther­mome­ter. If the wear­able thinks you have a fever, it will alert you. Users are there­fore encour­aged to con­sult a doc­tor or use a spe­cial ther­mome­ter. Apple has been rumored to be adding body tem­per­a­ture detec­tion to its Series 8 device for some time. In May, TF Secu­ri­ties ana­lyst Ming-Chi Kuo spec­u­lat­ed that Apple was work­ing on an algo­rithm to han­dle the smart­watch’s tem­per­a­ture-sens­ing func­tion. As a reminder, Apple is report­ed­ly plan­ning to release three dif­fer­ent Apple Watch Series 8 mod­els. A low-end SE, a reg­u­lar Series 8, and a rugged vari­ant geared towards extreme sports are all expect­ed. The S8 chip, which could have sim­i­lar char­ac­ter­is­tics to the S7, is also slat­ed for the wear­ables. Apple Watch mod­els for 2023 as part of the Series 9 will have a new processor.

The Series 8 SE mod­el is expect­ed to retain the screen size of the cur­rent mod­el. Gur­man says the Apple Watch Series 3 could be phased out in the fall, with the exist­ing SE fill­ing the gap. Gur­man pre­vi­ous­ly explained that Apple was work­ing on a num­ber of things, includ­ing satel­lite con­nec­tiv­i­ty for the Apple Watch.
