New Delhi: It seems that the price of this year’s iPhone may not be as low as the iPhone 13 series, and those who have been waiting to buy the 2022 versions may have to pay more even for the base model. The iPhone 14 series may cost $100 more than the iPhone 13 series, which is a significant price increase.
Due to high import duties, GST fees and other factors, the iPhone prices in India are already quite high compared to the US market. As production and component costs rise for all consumer electronics manufacturers, people should be prepared for price increases, according to Wedbush Securities analyst Dan Ives. Apple may choose to pass the increased cost on to customers by pricing the iPhone 14 series higher. If that’s the case, chances are the iPhone 14 will cost more than last year’s smartphones — potentially as much as Rs 10,000. In India, US$100 is roughly equivalent to 8,000 rupees, while Apple usually rates US$1 at 100 rupees. Therefore, a price increase of almost 10,000 rupees is expected.
The starting price of the iPhone 13 in India is currently Rs 79,990. Essentially, this means that the iPhone 14 could cost around Rs 90,000. However, we don’t expect the company to hike the price by that much. The analyst also argues that Apple could choose to maintain its current price point, which could boost iPhone model sales. Considering that the price of iPhones is already quite exorbitant for many Indians, it is likely that few people will be able to buy the iPhone 14 series due to its high cost.
Given that the iPhone 14 Pro variants are expected to receive significant design and camera upgrades, it’s possible that the company will decide to increase the cost of these models. The regular edition of the iPhone 14 series is not expected to see any significant improvements in these areas, but the Pro variants are rumored to be getting the updated chipset as well. We still have a long way to go before the iPhone 14 is released as Apple is rumored to be hosting an event on September 13th.
