San Francisco: As Apple prepares to launch its next-generation iPhones, a new report says the upcoming smartphone from the tech giant iPhone 14 is said to be facing quality control issues over cracks in the rear camera lens.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the tech giant has quality issues with the iPhone 14’s rear camera lens.
“Another quality issue. My latest survey shows that one of the Genius iPhone 14 rear lenses probably suffered from quality issues with coating cracks. Apple had transferred about 10 million lens orders from Genius to Largan to avoid impacting iPhone 14 shipments,” the analyst wrote on Twitter.
However, Kuo mentioned that the impact on iPhone 14 shipments can almost be ignored as Taiwan-based Largan is good at filling the supply gap.
“Experience has shown that the problem of cracking in the lens coating should be resolved within 1–2 months. But if Genius can’t solve the problem, Largan will continue to receive more orders,” he added.
Kuo recently said that some iPhone 14 components, such as Other devices, such as display panels, are facing supply chain issues, but the analyst believes the issues will only have a limited impact on upcoming mass-production iPhone 14 models, which are expected to be announced in September.
The lineup is expected to include the 6.1‑inch iPhone 14, 6.7‑inch iPhone 14 Max, 6.1‑inch iPhone 14 Pro, and 6.7‑inch iPhone 14 Pro Max. However, the tech giant could discontinue the 5.4‑inch iPhone mini this year.
A recent report states that the upcoming iPhone 14 will likely be $100 more expensive than the iPhone 13.
