My Grand­ma Hiltz lived in Mar­t­in’s Point which is in Lunen­burg Coun­ty, NS, and my Sis­ter and Cousins and I used to walk over to Oak Island when we were kids. We always ignored the No Tres­pass­ing signs. I was always fas­ci­nat­ed by Oak Island and a lot of folk­lore sur­round­ing it. In fact, I have a copy of The Folk­lore of Lunen­burg Coun­ty; it’s fas­ci­nat­ing. I would look out of my Grand­ma’s win­dow in the liv­ing room and I could see Tan­cook Island in the dis­tance. One evening I saw The Teaz­er, a ghost ship, but nobody believed me: at least they pre­tend­ed I was mis­tak­en, but my Mom’s fam­i­ly has the gift of psy­chic abil­i­ties, some peo­ple had it stronger than oth­ers, and I sus­pect my love­ly Grand­ma saw it more than once. The only sou­venir I took from Oak Island was a pret­ty rock 😂
