Actress Nusrat Jahan has spoken openly about people asking her if she was eight months pregnant from work. In a new interview, Nusrat also spoke about dealing with trolling, revealing it hasn’t been easy for her. The actress said she decided not to show “Faceless” a “list of facts and figures.”
Nusrat Jahan welcomed baby boy Yishaan with actor Yash Das Gupta on August 26 last year. Yash was carrying the newborn when Nusrat was discharged from Bhagirathi Neotia Hospital in Kolkata.
Speaking to India Today, Nusrat said: “I’m not saying it’s easy. I would be lying if I said it was easy. You wake up one day and see a headline where someone is trolling you. Oh troll ho gayi hu, woh kya hota hai (Oh, I’ve been trolled, what does that mean?) Accha fatwa aaraha hai (Ok, fatwa has been issued)? Many said that she could not be found. I sat here and signed maternity leave for women are required and eligible to get that. But in my case, people suddenly stood up and said, “Arre aap toh aate hi nahi.” (You don’t come alone.) My god, I’m not a woman? I’m not a woman who got pregnant? Are you all looking at me from that perspective?”
Nusrat added: “Aye ki tomake dekha jaache na? (What happened, we can’t see you?). So I told them I’m eight months pregnant and can’t travel. Then someone will say I don’t do this and that. So I’ve decided that I’m not going to sit here with a list of facts and figures to show people as faceless as her. They come up with accusations that are supposedly right or wrong. They can’t decide. I know what I am doing.”
In early 2019, Nusrat tied the knot with businessman Nikhil Jain in Turkey. In June 2021, she said her marriage was invalid under Indian law. Nusrat has been in a relationship with Yash since 2020.
